Fallin
(music starts)
Iris is sitting in the hospital, at Wufeis bedside. Duo is sitting in a chair next to Trowa on the opposite side of the room. Quatre and Heero are standing near their respective lovers, waiting for something to be said. Nothing was said, but everyone could read the sadness on Iris face.
I keep on fallin' in
And out love with you
Sometimes I love ya
Sometimes you make me
Feel blue
She remembered the first time she met him. She had landed on the Earth not long ago. Relena was showing her around the school when Iris saw him in a fencing class. She watched him intently, not meaning to ignore her cousin. Iris interrupted only for a moment to ask if she could spar with the young man. Relena agreed and together they approached him. You are very talented with a sword. Iris said to him. The young man raised his face to look at her. Iris tried to hide he surprise when she recognized his face from the photographs that she had found. He smiled at her.
Sometimes I feel good
At times I feel used
I feel you darlin'
Makes me so confused
I would like to spar with you, if I may. She said. The young mans gaze turned into a level and meaningful one as he said, I dont fight women.
Hes just saying that because hes being polite. Iris thought. But that quickly changed when he said, Women should not fight. Iris detected a bitter tone in his voice, one she had misinterpreted as an insult. She leveled her anger and looked into his eyes.
I will find you later. She turned on her heel, closely flanked by Relena, as she walked out the door to see the rest of the school.
I keep on fallin'
In and out
Of love with you
Iris thought about it later, before she would go to find the man known as Wufei. What exactly had he meant by women arent supposed to fight?
I never loved someone
The way that I loved you
She found him meditating in the martial arts room.
I told you Id find you. She said softly. He looked up slowly. She was not wearing her elaborate dress anymore, instead she was wearing a pair of sweat pants, shoes like his, and a fitted tank top. Her hair was still loose. He stood.
I told you, I dont fight women.
Why? Are they not strong enough for you?
Correct.
What if I am? she said in a low voice.
You are not. He said, sure of his judgment.
I dont fight in battles and survive to be told by some elitist chauvinist that Im weak.
He only looked into her eyes.
You have insulted me, and I will defend myself. She said, lifting up a kitana, getting ready to fight. Wufei raised his, ready to fight as well.
Oh, oh
I never felt this way
How do you give me
So much pleasure
She and Wufei fought as if it meant their lives for what must have been an hour. In a moment when she felt she was losing with the restricted movements martial arts sword fighting allowed, Wufei spun her sword away from her. It clattered on the opposite side of the room.
And cause me
So much pain?
His kitana slipped and made a small, paper thin, but deep cut in her shoulder. She hissed in pain, and Wufei was taken aback by his own actions. She used that moment as a distraction. Iris back flipped and caught another sword, a fencing sword, like her uncles. She turned to face him one last time, determined to show her strength as a fighter. She placed one hand behind her back, the way her Uncle Trieze had shown her when she was young, and began to fight and dodge all of his seemingly unorganized movements.
Yeah, yeah
'Cause when I think
I've takin' more
Than would a fool
I start fallin'
Back in love with you
And this time it was his sword that fell with a clatter on the floor. She had won. She bowed respectfully and walked away, leaving Wufei to drown in the flood of memories that her second fighting style recalled.
I keep on fallin'
In and out
Of love with you
She found him later the next day, and tried to apologize if she had in anyway angered him. He insisted that she hadnt, that he was weak that he lost to a girl. Iris sensed that there was more than that, but she didnt pry. Instead she got a little flustered with his self-loathing and said: Tell me somethingwhen you were a child just learning to walk, when you fell down, did you kick your own ass then, too?
She then left him there to think about what she said, had he heard at all.
I never loved someone
The way that I loved you
It was not until several months later that she realized how much he had come to care for her. She was about to go on a mission, when Wufei stopped her and told her it was too dangerous for a girl. She had stopped him before he said anything else and argued that she had to go, alone. Wufei then did something quite unexpected. He roughly pushed her against the wall, and kissed her, deeply.
Oh baby
I, I, I, I fallin' (2x)
Fall, fall, fall
Fall
I keep on fallin'
In and out
Of love with you
Iris remembered that when she had left for the mission, Wufei followed her anyway, and saved her from an ambush. His words after their return to the safe house still echoed in her mind.
Youre a womanYoure my woman. The embrace that followed endeared him to her more than ever.
I never loved someone
The way that I loved you
You never deserted me Wufei. I will not desert you now, or ever. She thought as she leaned forward to kiss her sleeping angel.
