Duo is sitting in a dimming room, staring out the window that faces the hangar at Quatre�s safe house, waiting.

I�m waiting, I�m waiting for you Quatre opens the door to tell Duo that dinner is ready. Duo asks for news about Heero. Quatre shakes his head, and again extends his offer. Duo explains firmly that he will neither sleep nor eat until Heero returns. Quatre sighs sadly. He shuts the door. Duo turns back to the window.

Meanwhile somewhere else, someone was also waiting for Heero to return to her.

Relena sat at her window in her palace in the Sank Kingdom looking toward the horizon. She remembered the day Heero had left with the rest of the pilots.
�Come back to me Heero.� She said looking past the translucent reflection in her window.
�Come home.�

Tears spilled slowly down Duo�s face as he remembered how Heero left: angry with him.

�I care about you Heero.�
Heero started at him with almost angry disbelief.
�I love you.� Duo confessed. He lowered his head almost embarrassed as the hot blush spread over his face and tears welled up in his eyes.
�That�s why I couldn�t do what you asked�. I couldn�t kill you.�
�So you jeopardized the mission?�
�FUCK the mission Heero! A human life is more important than any mission!�
�Not mine.�
�It is to me!�
�I would have done it.�
�If I were- If you were me- If I asked you to kill me you would?�
Heero didn�t answer.

Duo stopped remembering. Does he care for me? He didn�t answer.

He must care about me, Relena thought, he�s rescued me so many times. When he looks at me he has such intensity in his eyes. She lapsed into memory about the rescues and the intense glances with a shiver of anticipation.

When he rescued me from Oz, I could swear that he quickly kissed me on the cheek. I remember, I couldn�t move because of my leg, so he lifted me up and practically carried me out of the cell and down the hall.

Duo smiled to himself. Then he recalled another memory. He wasn�t sure who this was but he could swear that the person was speaking Japanese.

�Gomenasai� came a soft whisper from somewhere in the dark a soft kiss on his forehead and then as suddenly as it came, it was gone.

That morning I woke up and Deathscythe was in three pieces.

The door opened again. It was Trowa.
�Are you sure you won�t eat anything?�
�Positive. Not one thing �til he comes back.�
Trowa sighed, almost sadly, as if he knew about Heero. As if the news was not good. �You�ll have a long time to wait�
�Then I will.� Duo replied, not moving from his spot.
Trowa sighed again, then closed the door.

Relena sat at her window, certain Heero would show up. She heard the sound of a gundam out side the palace. He�s here! She thought and got up to give her love a warm greeting. She ran toward the sound.

Duo put his head down on the windowsill and began to cry. The more Duo thought about Trowa�s tone, the more he cried. He�s not coming home, Heero, I�m sorry�.Please come home.

~He�s outside! Heero, I�m coming.

I�m waiting

The door opened again. Duo lifted his head up slowly and swat the tears away from his eyes, angry that his misery was being interrupted. Still more tears spilled as he turned his head to repeat what he had twice before. But what he saw stopped him before he could.

�I�m sorry Duo.�

�Heero!� Duo cried smiling.

The two rushed toward each other and embraced.

Heero looked into Duo�s eyes and said what he was terrified to say, but needed-had to say or risk losing Duo forever. �Ai shiteru, Duo�

*Relena finally hit the outdoors and looked up into the sky for the Wing Zero. Only a jet liner passed overhead. She walked back into the palace.
