Condemnation Why did this all happen to me? I never thought in a million years that I would have had to run away from Heero. I thought he was my friend. A lonely teardrop glistened down Duo's smooth cheek, highlighted in the darkness by the bright neon lights gleaming from the window of a broken down hotel room he waited in. I shouldn't be so damn nave, he's always been pretty violent with me. But, never like last night. He hurt me so bad, I'm glad I had the sense to call Trowa up to get me out of there afterwards. Otherwise, I would have done all I could to kill that son of a bitch. Empty eyes stared at the door, waiting for the moment that the banged, green-eyed pilot would enter and take him away. Away from all the fighting, the pain, the bullshit that he never needed in the first place. All his sensed were amplified by the anxiety churning in his guts as he laid on the rickety hotel bed, yet his mind began to flashback to what happen last night. Heero had been acting really spastic and depressed after he had reported into Dr. J. He had been disappearing for hours; sometimes even days on end and Duo grew worried. All the signs pointed that he was at the edge of some dark abyss and Duo wasn't willing to stand there and let him fall. Quietly last night, he went into their room at the current safehouse they were using and was just about to confront him; to ask him what the hell was going on when Heero came out of the darkness and virtually jumped onto him, knocking him to the floor. A gun barrel was roughly pointed at his temple and emotionless, deadly cobalt eyes shone in the waning light leaking out from the hall. Duo looked into those eyes fearfully. "What do you want? And you better tell me quick, Duo. I'm not in the mood for your shit right now." Heero growled at him, digging the gun's barrel deeper into the skin of Duo's temple. "OW!! Knock it off; you're hurting me, Heero! I just came to ask what's wrong. You've been acting like such a prick lately! Jeezus!" "A prick? A PRICK? I'll show you what one looks like!" With that, Heero went into a rage, tearing at Duo's clothes and flipping the struggling boy onto his back. "NO!! DON'T!! Let me GO!!" Duo snarled, craning his head to glare at Heero. Fear built up, Duo automatically knew what would happen next and swore he'd rather be damned before his best friend violated his body like this. He fought with all the strength he could, but a sharp, precise blow landed onto his solar plexus and the world faded to black. "Duo?" A timid, familiar voice brought him back into reality with a rude jolt. He looked up into contrite cobalt-blue eyes, and immediately looked away. His own amaryllis eyes were brimming with anger. How dare you?! After what you did to me? Why should I even bother speaking to a bastard like you again? "Get out!" Duo hissed at him in a flat voice. He got up from the bed and into a defensive crouch with one swift, fluid motion, waiting to see if history would repeat itself and Heero would try to hurt him again. "Please Duo, just hear me out..." "GET OUT!!" Duo shrieked out angrily at Heero. He defiantly had nothing to say to him now. In fact, if Heero weren't standing in front of him right now, he would have believed that no Heero had ever existed at all. "Duo, I just want to tell you- " "SHUT UP!! Just stay the hell away from me, Yuy! You took from me the one thing I can never, ever, get back." Heero's eyes widened in shock and he took a step back, faced with the unfamiliar sight of Duo in a rage. He'd only come to find out what was wrong and to apologize for using up his shampoo. Why is he so mad over me using his shampoo? I can always buy him another bottle. Duo looked at him and his heart hardened. He's afraid of me. Damn right, he should be. He left me on the floor, bleeding and crying. Didn't even stop when I woke up in the middle of it...not even when I begged him to. He laughed maniacally, with an edge of hysterical madness in his voice. "Duo? Wha- " Duo looked up into Heero's confused cobalt eyes and an ironic, bitter smile twisted onto his normally soft lips. "It just amazes me how we got to this point...hell, if someone had told me before that my best friend, the one person that I would have willingly given myself to, would have pinned me to the floor of the room we shared and raped me while I screamed my head off for him to not to, well I sure wouldn't have believed it!" Rape? Him? WHAT?! Heero was floored. Why in the hell would Duo say this? But, Duo never lied, so it must be true. When the hell had he committed such a heinous act against his only friend? And why? He tried to remember...but found that he couldn't. He'd felt like he was missing some vital piece of this puzzle. Ever since J put him on that damn medication to improve his reflexes and reaction time, he'd felt like that. Was that what was responsible? "Duo, I didn't know..." "You didn't know? So, I suppose that's a fine and fucking dandy excuse to rape me. I thought better than that of you, Heero Yuy. His voice was dripping with venom, a swift undercurrent of bitterness apparent in his tone. If Heero didn't leave, NOW, he was ready to do something drastic. He shifted, preparing to tackle the other boy to the hardwood floor. But as he moved, something poked Duo from inside his shirt that would totally turn the tables to his favor. It was the gun he had always carried with him for protection. Duo giggled a little at the thought that crossed his mind. The last time I shot Heero, that bitch, Relena, interfered. Now there's no one to protect him from the death he deserves. With a cocky smile on his face, he pulled the gun out of the waistband of his pants and pointed it straight at Heero, who reared back in surprise for a moment, but changed his mind and stood still, accepting the fact that he was about to die. After all, he had done such terrible things to his best and only friend...I deserve this for what I did to Duo. It's all my fault, but I accept it...ninmu ryoukai. Heero closed his eyes and took a deep breath, holding it in his lungs. The last thing he thought he saw was Duo pulling back the trigger. "NOOO!! Duo, don't do it!! Don't go down to his level!!" A frantic voice screamed in the silence before the gunshot rang out. At the last moment, a hand knocked the gun up and over. The bullet flew out and shattered the window instead of Heero's body. Hazy violet eyes stared into fierce, challenging emerald ones. "Trowa...?" Duo's voice came out child-like in his confusion. All sorts of emotions were swirling in his head and reality seemed far from what was actually going on. He dropped the gun in shock, his hands shaking. "Yeah, it's me, Duo. Take a deep breath, okay? You need to calm down." Trowa encompassed Duo's shaking body into a hug and threw a vicious glare at Heero, who stood by helplessly. He winced as Duo's ragged breath took his attention from the cobalt-eyed boy back to Duo, who was shaking still and gasping out breaths between the tears that were flowing down his face. A long-fingered hand stroked his braid softly as Trowa crooned deeply in his throat to calm the violet-eyed boy down. "S-suh-suh...sorrrry, Trowa..." Trowa dismissed the remark with a "hush, Duo. It's all right." After a while, Duo's sobs and gasps turned into quieter sniffles and soft hiccups. With an uncharacteristic tenderness, the usually stoic Trowa continued to hold Duo close in his arms, still crooning that same haunting melody. Meanwhile, Heero continued to stare at Trowa and Duo, rooted to the spot with a combination of shame and hopelessness. What had he done? He had always loved Duo, but now...how could he? Trowa had been the one who had been there for Duo after what...he-he'd done...what he'd done. Heero wished he knew why he had done such a thing...to the one person he loved, that he wished would love him back, but he couldn't. And now Duo had fled, straight to Trowa Barton and Heero knew that he would never even have a chance with Duo now. "Take a good long look at him, Heero. This is the one friend you had, and you lost him because of your own foolish greed. I hope you're happy after destroying Duo's life, cause I will never let you near him again. If you even try, I'll be the one to pull the trigger. And I don't miss." Trowa's icy voice brought him back to the reality of the hotel room once more. Heero looked into the other's emerald eyes, which shone with a deep malice. "Trowa...I didn't- Trowa ignored him, pulling Duo closer. "It wasn't my fault!" Heero was now frustrated. Why couldn't Trowa listen to him? "Why should he listen to you?! You've done enough!!" Duo shrieked at him, amaryllis eyes burning hate. Trowa hushed him with a sot stroke against the other boy's spine. "I SWEAR it wasn't my fault!! I never knew...I would never have hurt Duo, ever, if I had known...I'd rather kill myself first." He was begging now, but he didn't give a damn, as long as they listened to what he had to say. Tears were even coursing down his normally stony cheeks and he didn't bother to wipe them away, even though they burned his face with their salty touch. For the first time, the Perfect Soldier showed that he had a chink in his emotional armor. He shook, waiting for the couple that despised him to pass judgment. Silence reigned in the shabby hotel room. Heero held his breath and watched the two, still waiting for some reply. "You lie." Duo's voice was full of hatred. Hatred and contempt for what Heero had done, for the act and the criminal who had committed it. Without another word, he grasped Trowa's arm and the couple coolly walked past him, out the door. He was left alone, his world shattered by those two simple words spoken out of the one mouth he never wanted to hear them from. Heero pulled the pills out of his coat pocket and flung them away in revulsion. J had managed to ruin his life once again. You'll get yours soon, you twisted old fuck. After that, I'll kill myself because there won't be anything else left. Nothing will matter after losing Duo. All alone, in a shabby roach motel, a cobalt-eyed boy laughed maniacally in the dark, picking up the gun Duo had left behind.
