Grief Page 5
(On this page I thought I'd share a few Grief inspired poems).
There's a very special garden
Where the Trees of Memory grow
Nurtured by the Kindness
And concern that good friends show.
The roots are cherished memories
Of good times in the past
The branches tender promises
That souls endure and last.
It's a place of peace and beauty
Where bright new hopes can start
It's Memory's Lovely Garden
That soothes the hurting heart.
Fill Not Your Hearts
Fill not your hearts with pain and sorrow
But remember me in every tomorrow.
Remember the joy, the laughter, the smiles,
I've only gone to rest a little while.
Although my leaving causes pain and grief,
My going has eased my hurt and given me relief.
So dry your eyes and remember me,
Not as I am now, but as I used to be.
Because, I will remember you and look on with a smile.
Understand in your hearts, I've only gone to rest a little while.
As long as I have the love of each of you,
I can live my life in the hearts of all of you.
Afterglow
I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one
I'd like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done.
I'd like to leave an echo whispering down the waves
Of happy times and laughing times of bright and sunny days.
I'd like the tears of those who grieve
To dry before the Sun of many happy memories
That I left when life was done.
Remembrance
Remembrance is a golden chain
Death tries to break, but all in vain.
To have, to love, and then to part
Is the greatest sorrow of one's heart.
The years may wipe out many things
But some they wipe out never.
Like memories of those happy times
When we were all together.
When a person you love passes away
Look at the night sky on a clear day.
The star that to you, appears to bright
Will be your loved one, looking upon you during the night.
The Lights of Heaven are what shows through
As your loved one watches all that you do.
When you feel lonely for the one that you love
Look to the Heavens in the night sky above.
Peacefully, sleep comes to a dear beloved heart.
Quietly, we understand the time has come to part.
Tenderly, the love shines on .. a never-ending light
Gratefully, we feel it's warmth and say
"We'll see you soon but for now it's goodnight".
I sincerely hope these prayers, poems and rituals will help someone somewhere with their own loss..
If it gives one person some comfort, some reprieve from their pain, some understanding then my work was not in vain.
Losing a loved one is the most difficult test one can face, it is up to us how we cope or not..
