Habitat: 400-800 m elevation

Description:
A slender tree up to 8 m high. Trunk up to 20 cm in diameter, younger part covered with persistent leaf bases. Leaves 1.6 cm long and 55 cm wide; petioles of young leaves densely hairy, becoming spiny at margins. Leaflets rolled inward from the top when mature, linear, to 30 cm long. Male cones ovoid and rounded at tip. Female organ with densely brown short hairs, with broad ovate lamina. Seeds crowded below the lamina, smooth, obovoid, flattened. Species tolerant of poor soil and dry conditions. Endangered.

Local name: pitogong-Arayat (Tagalog)
