~~~~Back to the present~~~~
That happened approximately two months ago in human time. Many things have happened since that day. I have been left so confused and I don't even know what to think anymore. My confusion is my own fault, I guess, because I try to understand the events laid out before me, but I never will. Every time I try to divulge information from the events that have occurred, I hit a brick wall. I keep thinking that if I think it through more thoroughly, I'll discover its not as confusing as I think it is. 'I'm not human, never was, and never will be.' At least that's what I used to think before that day in the surgery room of the hospital. Let me rethink it again as I sit here by myself.
~~~~To the past~~~~

I was young, not too young, but younger than I am now. However, my appearance never changes. Even if I'm four hundred years old, I'll never look older than an average twenty year old. Although I've never seen my reflection for myself, I know I have golden blonde hair and crystal blue eyes. My hair is pulled back in a bun that one can just see over the top of my head. I also have streamers of hair framing my face.

"Well, she definitely knew what liked," I said to my friend, looking at the small book in my hand. Every Messenger has a book we write in each day. What we observe, what we hear, answers to our questions, and what we learn all goes into this tiny book which can be held up easily in the hand of a child.

"Pajamas, huh? Interesting," he said nodding. Andrew, my best friend, always had insights on everything I say. He usually has the same thoughts as me about the same topic and he's a good listener. He has short dirty blonde hair and olive green eyes. Those eyes always reflect an intense curiosity and I believe my eyes reflect the same.

"And that's not all I saw...there was a man and a woman in an elevator together and they looked at each other in such a way," I answered looking up from my book to him. He held my gaze and smiled.

"And they...," Andrew uttered nodding. "Ah..."

"Do you ever wonder what that would be like?"

"What?"

"Touch," I stated more than asked. I turned to look at the ground far below us. It was a beautiful day as I recall. People were moving about their daily business as usual. Funny thing about humans, they never seem to notice a beautiful day. I turned back to Andrew's thinking face when he didn't answer.

"No," he said smiling. I looked at him strangely and he laughed. "Okay...yes, sometimes."

We smiled at one another before looking out across the people below. They continued walking around, rushing off to where they needed to go. I listened in on a few thoughts and heard them very faintly because I was so far away. 'I wish I knew what to say...', 'Twenty minutes...Twenty minutes....Twenty minutes...', 'All I ask is for a reasonable repsonse...is that so hard?', and 'I hope my baby's okay....she's never done anything like that....maybe it's just a phase?' were some of the things I heard from my perch on the highway sign.

"I'll see you later at the library, Andrew," I answered turning back to smile at him. He smiled back and disappeared before my eyes. I glanced up at the sky and closed my eyes, wondering what it would be like to feel the sun's warmth. I then took a deep inhale of breath and set out away from here too.

I forgot to go to the library before going to the beach at sunset. It was almost time when I got there. Andrew and I met up to walk out on the beach together.

"She asked me the question," I stated, as we walked together, slowly. I always got asked the same question by the small ones. 'Can I be an angel too,?' it always was.

"Well, what did you tell her?" he asked. I'm glad he knew what I was talking about.

"I asked her if it would be the same if I made her some paper wings..."

"Tell her the truth."

"I did....then I asked her if it would be the same if she just had the wings."

"What did she say?"

"She said...,'What good are wings if you can't feel the wind on you face.'"

"Smart child...," he answered, stopping. I stopped also, turned my head towards the sun, and closed my eyes. The tune was always the same. It sang from the sunset everyday and all Messengers gather on a beach to hear it. The melody is soft and soothing. The music is full of feeling and strength and seems to lift your spirit upward. It's almost like being reborn again. Imagine, if your human, diving into ice-cold water which suddenly became warm just because it was touched by you. That's what the music is like to us.
YOU AREN'T HALF WAY DONE HAHAHA!!!
