Abstract
A sample containing 240 office employees (178 males, 62 females) in two public institutions in the UAE were interviewed to clarify the relationships among achievement motivation, Self Assertiveness and some Demographic Variables. The participants completed two questionnaires of achievement motivation, and self Assertiveness.
Males
scored significantly higher on achievement
motivation than females. But these gender differences disappear in the
married and highly educated women. Males were found to have a higher degree of
assertiveness, more achievement motivation with the older age and increased
assertiveness. But the motivation of females haven’t differed according to age
and self assertiveness.
Also,
the results revealed that there is a positive relationship between achievement
motivation and education level.
Other findings related to the differences in achievement motivation among groups, vary according to education level, marital status, monthly income, and nationality were clarified. The relationship of these findings to the related literature is discussed. To increase achievement motivation, the findings suggest the need for encouraging employees, especially the low educated women to upgrade their education level and self assertion.
