        Abstract

 

The aim of this study is to examine the most prevalent marital & academic problems facing male & female students in the United Arab Emirates university. Further it also aimed at exploring the intergroup differences among different groups according to gender, scholastic level, college type, general achievement level, and place of residence (family house, university house).

A checklist of fourteen items was administered to (624) males and (1891) females. The results of this study indicate that females are facing more difficulties with regard to marital & academic future problems compared to males. They have shown more fears of being not married, in addition to lack of information and skills regarding to raising a family. Males are more facing than females more fears of being financially unable to assure their future. In general, males and females are facing more difficulties with regard to unavailability of postgraduate studies in the university, and weakness in their skills of English language & computer. Other results relating to the differences between groups according to gender, scholastic level, college type and other variables are stated & discussed.
