Either as white sox #1 or Rib Eaters, this franchise is one of the more successful in this league. The key to their success has been their Most Valuable Player, Randy Johnson. During
the first season of the Interstate League, the team was known as white sox #1.
The staff that featured Johnson, Tom Glavine, Robb Nen, Kazuhiro Sasaki,
and Tim Hudson dominated with the best WHIP (1.23), third best team ERA (3.61)
and saves (46), and second highest number of strikeouts (449, two less than the
league leader). Unfortunately,
their offense was good but just not good enough.
They ended the 2000 Season in second place, 9.5 roto-points behind baseball08. Their success caught the eye of a Seattle businessman, who acquired the team during the off-season and renamed them, Rib Eaters. The new ownership fine-tuned the roster through some draft picks and some minor trades, but for the most part operated quietly. The Rib Eaters showed their skills on the field. They finished the Regular Season in first place (238-153-27, .602 pct.). It was that Regular Season finish that paid off in the semi-final game against the pesky Port Washington Puppets. The game had ended in an 8-8 tie, but they were able to advance to the finals because of their Regular Season performance. The Rib Eaters in the Championship Game defeated the Jumanjii Jynx: 15-3. Expect more success from these Rib Eaters in 2002. 13 Keepers
