Jumanjii Jynx
Up

During the inaugural season of the Interstate League, a team called w_m_rebels was formed.  The team featured had a number of offensive weapons such as Carlos Delgado, Chipper Jones, Gary Sheffield, Magglio Ordoņez, and Raul Mondesi.  Unfortunately, the pitching staff was not equally potent.  To make matters worse, the team owners were engaged in a bitter internal struggle.  As a result of these distractions, the management was unable to give the team the proper amount of attention.  The team finished seventh in the then 14-team league.

During the following pre-season (2001), the franchise was sold to a partnership based in Monroe, Michigan.  The team took the name of Jumanjii Jynx. Right away, the new ownership recognized their most pressing need: a closer for their bullpen.  They made Keith Foulke their first round draft pick.  The most significant roster move that the Jynx might had been made during the pre-season was when they traded their third round pick, Luis Gonzalez, to the Port Washington Puppets for Jose Vidro.  Gonzalez had a MVP-type season while Vidro had an injury-filled one.

Nevertheless, the Jynx had a productive Regular Season with a third-place finish (213-162-43, .561 pct.), 17 games behind the Rib Eaters.  In a classic semi-final game, the Jynx squeaked by the defending champs, baseball08, by a score of 9-8.  Their magical season ended when the Rib Eaters defeated them in the Championship Game: 15-3.

The future of this team is bright.  The starting nine batters, of the Jumanjii Jynx, may be the most potent in the league.  The Jynx could be the team to beat in 2002.
