History:
Jennifer Crystal Christman was genetically engineered
to be the perfect soldier. All was going well, the scientists had edited out all
genetic defects, and had added the physical attributes they felt would be best.
Except for one minor problem; she was female. The scientists dont know how to
explain this, they had been trying to design a man, but evidently the force had
something else in mind for her.
JC Christman was hatched on a small planet on the outside of the outer rings. Her planet was called Bezzelthorpe's Pride, roughly translated to "Hells Kitchen." The mean temperature of this space rock was 112 degrees Fahrenheit. Hells Kitchen was colonized during the early reign of Emperor Palpatine as a garrison for the entire sector. It has no natural life, no water, and no atmosphere; that is, none that originated here. Bezzelthorpe's Pride does, however, have an extensive military training post and an HWDC (High-tech Weapons Development Center).
Although the scientists were disappointed that she wasnt a he, she did work her way into their heart. The scientists told her that her parents had died in an accident, when their shuttle tyderian exploded when landing, but that they had saved her. The scientists and even the Shadow and Airre squadron pilots excepted her as their own daughter. It worked quite well, she learned all the time from the scientists, and stole some simulator, and actual flight time.
On her 20th birthday she was given the oath of service, and was commissioned a lieutenant in the Imperial Planetary Expeditionary Force, (black berets). She was assigned to Airre squadron as pilot number 8. The roster was as follows:
#1 "Lead" Commander Airre
#2 "Claw 2" Captain
McHenry
#3 "Claw 3" Captain Johnson
#4 "Claw 4" Lieutenant Rose
#5
"Claw 5" Captain Jose
#6 "Claw 6" Lieutenant Wagner
#7 "Lead 2" Major
Derex
#8 "Claw 8" Lieutenant Christman
#9 "Claw 9" Captain Ayala
#10
"Claw 10" Lieutenant Dunn
#11 "Claw 11" Captain Moris
#12 "Claw 12"
Lieutenant Lauren
They trained, and trained and trained. After a year of inactivity, except for minor scatter missions (that is missions where they were to hit the enemy before the main attack force to scatter their defenses), they felt that they were ready for anything.
Then one day a mission came over the wire. Their supply fleet was being blocked by a new rebel platform. Platform Charlie 2 was defended by two corellian corvettes, and three squadrons of X-Wings, that is 36 star fighters. Their mission was a hit and fade. Rumor had it that the rebels had a calamari cruiser and some support ships stationed 45 minutes away in defense of another colonized planet.
Airre Squadron was given the honor of breaking the blockade. Right before launch Commander Airre walked up to JC and handed her a small box. In the box where a trio of captains bars, along with a folded sheet with special orders promoting her to the rank of Captain. "JC, the orders just came in over the wire. Congratulations."
"Thank you, sir." They launched
When they dropped out of hyperspace they saw the target. Nice and soft just like they like it. Lead took his 5 other pilots and they each plugged one advanced torpedo into each of the two corvettes, and proceeded with the fighter sweep. Lead 2 took JC and the other 4 pilots in their gunboats and started the bombing run on the platform.
Now the trick with space bombs is you have to fly over the target at about .06AU or lower. Needless to say when JC pulled out from her bombing run, her hull was in the red, although, she did better then 4 of the other pilots in the unit who became one with nature. After pulling out she dumped all her charged power from her Ion Cannons and Laser Cannons to the shields. She pulled expensive thrusting power to recharge both the shields and her cannon systems.
Turning the craft she saw as both corvettes turned into very large balls of flame as the torpedoes found their mark. She reached over and hit the under tested decoy beam. This beam is designed to scatter your radar return and confuse the enemy systems into not seeing you. It seemed to be working, her shields had almost charged back to 200% and her cannon systems were recharged, all without being attacked by the enemy star fighters.
"This is Lead, all pilots compute jump for home, my wing and I will stay to clean up the last few X-Wings. Good job pilots, we have carried the day"
JC was just finishing her manual cross check on her jump coordinates, even though most of the other pilots neglected to follow the order to help with the cleanup, when three Calamari Cruisers, two Liberty Cruisers (the New Republic version of our Interdictor Cruiser), and five Nebulon-B Frigates dropped out of hyperspace. The Liberty Cruisers immediately started their gravitron generators preventing the imperial pilots from jumping to safety, while the frigates and other cruisers started to deploy their A-Wing and X-Wing compliments. Suddenly what looked like a marginal victory turned into utter defeat. Her brethren pilots were falling like flies in the path of a flame thrower. She and Commander Airre were the only ones left, she had almost made it out of the gravitron effect when she heard; "Shields down, lasers malfunctioning, beam weapon disabled!" along with a mess of beeping and other such noises in the background.
Captain Christman locked her commanders transponder code into her computer and went to the rescue. She knew that the assault gunboat could be stripped enough to allow her CO to sit (rather uncomfortably) in the back. All she had to do was dock with his craft masking his signature with her beam (which was functioning).
"Hold tight commander, Ill be right there!"
"Captain, dont you dare come back here, get yourself to safety!"
"Sorry" bthbthbthbth "radio" bthbthbth "functioning" Okay it was the oldest excuse in the book, but she had to save her CO.
Zooming in through the see of enemy star fighters she had this overwhelming sensation that she should jink down right at that moment, which she did, just as a trio of turbo lasers flew right through where she was. Without even thinking about what just happened she stopped charging the lasers on her craft, and used the extra energy to power her boat to the rescue.
The COs Tie Advanced was just coming into view when she saw him eject, just in time to avoid the explosion created when his ship exploded from a direct quad hit froma defending X-Wing. Just after ejecting an A-Wing came up and shot his escape pod, they killed a defenseless pilot without a second thought.
Something in her told her to negate the feelings of hatred and make her way to safety. Dyeing here today wouldnt help Commander Airre come back to life. She was making it out ok, considering the overwhelming odds. She had just made it out of the gravitron effect when her shields finally buckled under the incoming star fighter fire. As she had not been charging her lasers or her beam weapon, she had no extra power to dump to her shields, so she turned them off (saving the power for maneuvering.) She miraculously out flew the rest of the lasers, rellying solely on her instincts and intuitions. With the extra power from not charging anything she could travel at 157, where as the X-Wings who needed their lasers to shoot at her could only fly at a max of 100. Soon she was out of range and could initiate her jump.
When she got home she was debriefed in front of The Admiralty Board. It was a long grueling 8 hour session in which she was at attention without food or drink. But finally it was decided it wasnt her fault. It came out that the Rebel Fleet had moved from protecting the colony acting upon an inside tip that the imperials were going to hit their platform.
She was given permission to play judge, jury and executioner in the trial of one Major Markus, Director of Artificial Intelligence. It took 2 weeks for the major to die. When he did he was in the corner groveling, begging, and wailing for his mommy. Although it did not bring her old CO back, it did make her feel a little better.
It turned out that Shadow Squadron was assigned to destroy the rebel fleet. Since the fleet was obviously not there they dropped their bombs on the civilian colony and left. They had one casualty. Commander Bark lost his stabilizers and became a permanent part of the scenery. Major Droc was promoted to commander, and there was an opening for Major. Seeing her extraordinary record and performance in the last mission, she was promoted to Major and Executive Officer of the Shadow Squadron. Their roster was as follows:
#1 Commander Droc "Lead Shade"
#2 Captain
Mariv "Shade 2"
#3 Captain Dresden "Shade 3"
#4 Lieutenant Moryartes
"Shade 4"
#5 Captain Smith "Shade 5"

#14

#15 Captain Kirking "Ghost 3"
#16 Lieutenant
Terrek "Ghost 4"
#17 Captain Knight "Ghost 5"
#18 Lieutenant McGreevy
"Ghost 6"
#19 Major Appleby "Lead 3"
#20 Captain Pulaski "Ghost 8"
#21 Captain Rawles "Ghost 9"
#22 Lieutenant Baily "Ghost 10"
#23
Captain Carpenter "Ghost 11"
#24 Lieutenant Jessup "Ghost 12"
This was two squadrons combined to make one united strike force. Sierra Sabres Squadron was temporarily disbanded and placed under command of Shadow Squadron.
Shadows mission was to sweep the fighters aft, while Ghost came in fore and took out 50% or more of the capital ships. Not a terrible mission.
Shadow jumped in, and lined up for a mock bombing run on the capital ships. As expected the captains of the ships spooked and launched their fighters, more then half. I good 4:1 ratio rebel to imperial. Shadow squadron started to dogfight the A-Wings and X-Wings and pull them towards the aft ships of the fleet.
The signal was given and Ghost unit arrived on the scene, lining up the true bombing run. 12 assault gunboats unleashed a torrent of 120 heavy rockets. Each rocket finding its mark with deadly accuracy, as first both liberator cruisers fell, then the frigates, ending with severe hull damage to the other cruisers. The assault was working.
As the ships were falling, they launched what was left of their star fighter compliments. The odds were now a grand total of 7:1. Tough, but they were Special Forces, they might live.
Ghost hit as many of the escape craft as they could, and bent to the attack of the fighters that were just launched. All the while Shadow had reduced the odds to 2:1 loosing 5 of their own fighters. Ghost and Shadow started to work the combat in towards the remaining cruisers. Each pilot took blaster shots at the cruisers when possible. The odds slowly dwindled down to 21:9; all the gunboat pilots were dead. It was an all or nothing mission, and we were starting to win.
JC finally had her first break for an attack run on the Calamari Cruiser Sunshine. She lined up her shot, switched to her remaining mag pulse rockets and fired the last 4 into the Sunshine. She switched back to guns and pummeled Turbo Laser turret after Turbo Laser turret. Just as she finished her attack run and bent to the attack of the X-Wing shooting at her, she saw many explosions on board the Sunshine, she had got the kill shot!
Finally all the rest of the cruisers were killed off. But the odds were still not favorable for the Empire. The rebels had 2 X-Wings and 5 A-Wings and it was just JC in her Tie Advanced, and Lieutenant Jessup in his Assault Gunboat. Soon it was just the two imperials and a few A-Wings when Jessup was nailed. He never even had a chance to eject, the odds just went back to 3:1.
CJ twisted and turned. Dove and rolled. She never had a chance to think, it was a miracle that two of the A-Wings collided with each other on a strafing pass on her ship (which she dropped under suddenly). Then the last rebel pilot, obviously a rookie, started to initiate a hyperspace jump, which made him a prime target for JCs quad laser fire. She pumped round after round into his arse till there was nothing left of even the debris. She was now alone.
Her firing crystals were all but burned out, she was out of missiles, and her shields were almost non-existent. She took stock of her craft, and other then the poor attack capability left in her fighter she only lost her Jump Engine, and her camera. She sent the all clear to the supply convoy and waited for them to jump into normal space to make a navigation calculation for the final leg.
She had to stand another debriefing, only this time the Admiralty Board was not pleased. They had their supplies, but imperial high command had decided that they had no use for a special force to protect the base. And since Admiralty had no pilots or fighters to bargain with, they had to accept what High Command sent.
Major Christman was demoted to Captain, and sent to the ISFC HQ to report in. She was discharged from the Special Forces.
She dressed in the Imperial Dress Uniform, which had only two patches sewn on it; the imperial emblem, and the ISFC emblem. She had captains rank pinned on, and a length of service bar, showing 5 years of service.
She walked up to the mahogany door owned by the Fleet Commander and knocked lightly. Receiving orders to enter, she opened the door and took two steps in. She locked her Ice Blue eyes on the Commander, saluted and handed her the orders. Her dark blond hair was pulled back into a French Braid, and her uniform looked like it was sealed in a vacuum bag for the 5 years she was in service, this being its first day of use.
Christman currently holds
the position of High Commodander of the Imperial Starfighter Corps and flies the
Assault Gunboat with Zeta Squadron of Agamemnon Wing.
