Glass
Ball
This is a special project,
as it is very near the heart. Last year I started playing with drying
flowers. I never suspected that I would have a use for this art in
this manner. But my dear mother-in-law was diagnosed with cancer,
we lost her shortly thereafter. So what I did was to take most of
the cut flowers and dry them. I used a special silicon sand used
for drying flowers. I think I bought every ounce of this silicon
sand in our midwest area. My husband and I started drying flowers.
Now what to do with these flowers? I found that glass display cases were
too costly as I intended to make eight of these. So my husband suggested
that I go to the hardware store and buy outside light replacement globes,
so I did. The next thing was the base, I got the wood bases from
my local Wal-Mart, Larry primed and then crackled the wood. I put
a base of styrofoam with moss glued on. I used toothpicks to hold
the flowers in place. Keep this small as it will be a tight fit.
We then used clear silicone caulk to glue the glass onto the wood base
and finished it with a pretty braid from the fabric store. You can do this
with any floral that is dear to you, wedding, funeral, or a special bouquet.
