The Indian School, Darsait is approved by the Ministry of Education, Oman. The medium of instruction in the School is English. Malayalam is offered as the first Language and English and Hindi as the Second and third languages respectively.

This stream aims at preparing the students to appear for the Kerala State Board Syllabus of Standard X and Std. XII Public Examination

THE CURRICULUM:

Primary and Secondary

The curriculum followed is that of SSLC of the Kerala State Board. A student appearing for the SSLC Examination is expected to study the following subjects. English, Malayalam / Additional English, Hindi, Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology separately), Social Science (History, Geography, Civics. Economics), Mathematics.

Malayalam is a compulsory subject for all students up to Std.VII.

In addition to the core subjects, Computer Science, Physical and Health Education, Art and Music are also taught in the school.

Co-curricular activities include Sport, Games, Music, and Dance, Dramatics, Scouting / Guiding, Debates, Elocution, Quizzing (Duke of Edinburgh�s Award Scheme) the international award for young people

Higher Secondary Course

The school offers the following subjects combination for the Higher Secondary Course of Kerala Board.

1. English, Malayalam / Hindi, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology.

2. English, Malayalam / Hindi, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer Science.

3. English, Malayalam / Hindi, Accountancy, Economics, Business Studies, Computer Application.

Kerala Board follows NCERT syllabus at the higher secondary level in most of the subjects and is recognized all over India.

THE ACADEMIC YEAR:
The academic year begins in April and ends in March. There are three terms:

First Term : April to May

Second Term : July to November

Third Term : November to March

VACATIONS:
Summer: 1st June 2004 to 25th July, 2004

Winter : 7th December, 2004 to 1st January, 2005
