A skater’s eligibility to enter the competition is governed by the USFSA test structure and appropriate USFSA Competition Rules (CR 30.00 - 38.00). Previous CCIA 1st place winners must enter the next higher class.A skater may enter only one event in each category, e.g. Moves in the Field, Freeskating, Short Program, Pairs, Dance, Adult, Synchronized Team Skating, and Artistic.
5) ALL SKATERS MUST BE HOME CLUB MEMBERS IN GOOD STANDING OF A CCIA CLUB AND HAVE A LOCAL MAILING ADDRESS.
6) All skaters will be judged and marked for all portions of all events. Tests passed as of the closing date of entries shall govern. Age as of the first day of the competition (June 23, 2001) shall govern.
7) Each singles division, except Artistic, Dance, and Moves in the Field will be divided by gender. Siblings will be separated wherever possible.
8) All events will be divided by draw into groups when 14 or more entered. Smaller groups are permissible with agreement of the CCIA Competitions Committee, host club, and Chief Referee.
9) Awards will be given to the top four (4) skaters in each group.
11) Refunds after the closing date (May 15, 2001) for entry fees WILL NOT be made without a medical doctor’s report (on the doctor’s stationery) specifically declaring that the skater is unable to participate due to illness or injury, or notice of a death in the skater’s immediate family.
A $25.00 processing fee will be charged. All requests must be submitted within 14 days after the competition (July 8, 2001).

All entries must be postmarked by the ENTRY DEADLINE of MAY 15, 2001.
Entries received after this date will be accepted at the discretion of the host club and the Chief Referee. The fee for each late entry will be an additional $25.00. Entries will not be accepted within 48 hours of the start of the competition.

Make check payable to ISCF/2001 CCIA Senior and mail with Entry Form, Medical Release Form, and Certification, Consent, and Risk/Liability Form for each skater. Entries for Pairs/Dance couples and Synchronized Skating Teams must be submitted together.
TENTATIVE EVENT SCHEDULE
Each CCIA Club will receive a copy of the tentative event schedule for posting. Participants may have a copy of this schedule by including a self-addressed, stamped business size envelope along with the entry form and other required forms.
ADMISSION CHARGE
There will be NO admission charge to enter the arena.
REGISTRATION
A registration desk will be located in the arena lobby and open prior to the start of the competition. All competitors are required to register, turn in music and be ready to skate one hour prior to the tentatively scheduled time for their event.
MUSIC
All music must be on cassette tape. Only one piece of music per tape. All tapes must be clearly marked with competitor’s name and event, MUST be cued, and must be ready to play. All cassettes must be turned in to the registration desk at least one hour prior to their event. A back up cassette tape must be available in the arena. Cassette tapes shall be picked up at the registration desk after the conclusion of the event. The host club is NOT responsible for returning tapes that are not picked up by the conclusion of the competition.
MEDICAL RELEASES
All competitors must have a valid authorization for medical treatment in case of illness or accident.
BULLETINS AND NOTICES
An official Bulletin Wall will be maintained in the arena lobby. The most current event schedule and skating orders will be posted in the lobby. Posted schedules supersede all other schedules. Notices posted on this wall will serve as sufficient notice to all persons. Check the Bulletin Wall frequently.
AWARDS
Medals will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th places in all events. Medals will be presented on the photographer’s stand as soon as possible following the posting of results.
The CCIA Memorial Trophy was established to honor those officials, officers, and delegates who have given their time and effort to the sport of figure skating and the CCIA. This trophy is awarded to the most artistic Freeskating performance in the Junior Men or Ladies Freeskating event.
PHOTOGRAPHY
Professional photography will be provided by Harold Johnsen Photography.
VIDEOTAPING
Professional videotaping will be provided by R & J Video.
FLOWERS
Bouquets will be sold at the arena during the competition by the Ice skating Club of Fresno.
CLOTHING
Northwest Designs will be selling t-shirts and sweatshirts.
CONCESSIONS
Food, snacks and beverages will be available for purchase.
ARENA AND ICE SURFACE
The Gateway ice Center is an indoor rink with an 85’ x 200’ ice surface with slightly rounded corners. There is free parking available in the lot and on the streets around the arena.
PRACTICE ICE
Practice Ice will be available Friday, June 22. Ice time has been divided by skating level. Please see the attached schedule for specific times and practice ice fees. WARM-UP TIMES AND GROUPS
Warm up for Singles and Pairs will be limited to twice the specified length of the Freeskating program but will not exceed six (6) minutes or be less than three (3) minutes.

EVENTS TO BE SKATED
MOVES IN THE FIELD
According to the USFSA Rulebook this includes Moves in the Field patterns for Juvenile, Intermediate, Novice, Junior and Senior.
Moves are to be skated in accordance with TR 41.00 and the USFSA Rulebook Patterns, except that feet
and/or directions will be drawn as indicated, announced and posted by the Chief Referee prior to the start of practice ice. Events may be double paneled as determined by the Chief Referee. Starting orders may be rotated, one mark will be given for each move and accounting computations will be performed as for figures. Passing of the equivalent Freeskating Test may be substituted for a Moves in the Field Test in order to qualify.

JUNIOR SHORT PROGRAM - Open to skaters who have passed the Novice but not the Senior Freeskating Test.

SINGLES ARTISTIC
The Artistic Freestyle Event is to be artistic and interpretive. There are no restrictions on the artistic freestyle music; vocal or instrumental may be used. Costumes must be in accordance with USFSA rules. No scenery is allowed, and props may not be used unless they are carried throughout the performance. Judges will consider the skater’s choreography, style and presentation, as well as the use of skating moves to interpret the music. Speed, deep knee bends, good edges, centered spins and graceful movements are all important. Use of novelty effects, such as, dancing on toepicks, lying or sitting on ice or railing, or lip-synching of music, is not desirable.
One mark will be given based on the composition of the program as a whole, its conformity with the music, the utilization of the ice surface, expression of the music, the quality of the skating, and the originality.
THE DIFFICULTY AND/OR NUMBER OF TECHNICAL ELEMENTS WILL NOT BE A VALUE FACTOR.

PRE-BRONZE - Open to couples where neither partner has completed the Bronze Dance Test. Two dances will be drawn from the Pre-Bronze Dance Test for the initial round. One of the initial round dances plus the remaining Pre-Bronze Dances will constitute the final round.

SHADOW DANCE
Shadow dancing is two persons skating together as a team, shadowing each other either side by side or in front of each other (or at a direct angle to each other), while skating the required dance. Neither partner is permitted to touch the other while skating the required dance but should remain as close as possible. It is required that one of the partners, during the course of the dance, change sides without interruption of the normal course of the dance.
FIESTA TANGO SHADOW DANCE - Open to all skaters who have not passed the Silver Dance Test.
Three (3) patterns to be skated.
KILIAN SHADOW DANCE - Open to all skaters with no age or test restrictions.
Three (3) patterns to be skated.
SOLO DANCE
A minimum of two (2) competitors of either gender in a category are required for an event to be included. No final round.
PRELIMINARY SOLO - Open to skaters who have not completed the Pre-Bronze Dance Test.
Dances - Dutch Waltz, Rhythm Blues.
PRE-BRONZE SOLO - Open to skaters who have not completed the Bronze Dance Test.
Dances - Swing Dance, Cha Cha
BRONZE SOLO - Open to skaters who have completed the Preliminary Dance Test but who have not completed the Pre-Silver Dance Test.
Dances - Hickory Hoedown, Willow Waltz.
PRE-SILVER SOLO - Open to skaters who have completed the Pre-Bronze Dance Test but who have not completed the Silver Dance Test.
Dances - Foxtrot, European Waltz.
SILVER SOLO - Open to skaters who have completed the Bronze Dance Test but who have not completed the Pre-Gold Dance Test.
Dances - American Waltz, Rocker Foxtrot.
PRE-GOLD SOLO - Open to skaters who have completed the Pre-Silver Dance Test but who have not completed the Gold Dance Test.
Dances - Blues, Paso Doble.
GOLD SOLO - Open to skaters who have passed at least one dance of the Silver Dance Test.

SYNCHRONIZED TEAM SKATING
Synchronized Team Skating events will be held in accordance with the current USFSA Rulebook. However, the groups may consist of combined levels depending on the number of entries. This will be at the discretion of the host club and the Chief Referee.
For Junior and Senior levels, the short and free programs will be separate programs.
