Bless My School Day Initiative

(Global Day of Prayer)

Fact Sheet

History

The Global Day of Prayer initiative started in South Africa in May 2001 with the Transformation Africa Movement encouraging young people to take back their generation from the brink of being a ‘lost generation’ through bold, creative means. This included a ‘Walk of Hope’ initiative that saw young people spreading the vision of a radical set of youth standing in the gap for their peers in prayer.

By 2004 this vision had spread to all 56 nations of Africa and was evidenced by simultaneous youth prayer meetings and gatherings in the stadiums of Africa. Today this vision is being taken to the world.

How it works

Encourage students and teachers to listen to details of the activity each Tuesday evening between 8:30 and 9:30 pm on ‘Campus Connections’, a student program on LOVE 101 FM.

On June 2, 2006 join with schools, colleges and universities across Jamaica in this act of unity for our young people. Gather as many students as you can in your auditorium, campus sports ground or any other open space on your campus, kneel down and pray for 30 seconds for the transformation of your school/campus. (For more info visit www.30kd.org)

After the 30 second kneel-down prayer, please break up in smaller groups and pray through the 4 prayer foci mentioned below with fellow students, teachers and friends!

*Pray that God will touch every student in the school. Bless the teachers and pray for God’s hand on the administrative system.

*Pray that students in your school will understand how much God loves them.

*Pray for any other challenges or problems that your specific school is facing. For example, pray specifically:

Against the ills plaguing young people including sexual immorality, violence, broken homes and poverty and For blessings in academic and extra-curricular performance, strong moral values and good relationships within your school.

We invite you to join Jamaica and the world in praying for our generation to be transformed by the power of God. A live broadcast will be made from one school from LOVE 101 Fm. The school is encouraged to permit listening of the exercise for 15 minutes starting at 12:15pm.
