| To all my VT friends. Thank you for the prayers and support that you have expressed to me and my fellow Americans. I am, as I am sure many of you are, still in shock about this mornings events. As a member of my countries armed forces, it is even more frustrating to see someone attack the very thing that I have sworn to defend. These attacks are mindless, and cruel. I will never be able to understand any person or group that could even conceive of such atrocities and then worse still carry them out. As we have seen right here on these VT pages, it IS possible for people from every nation in the world to co-exist no matter what the culture, color, or religious background. So on this tragic day for all free and peaceful people of the world, I shed a tear for my American family, but smile in hope for the family that I have yet to meet. -jrgentle, Heidelberg, Germany One is short of words at describing the enormous feeling of impotence at witnessing through the media and thousands of miles away, what the fanatism could do to the place that I consider my home. Today momentarily living miles away from New York, and with many good friends experiencing, as I speak, the senseless nightmare of this horrendous attack on innocent civilians, I firmly hold, notwithstanding the distance, the hands of all those who at this time need some comforting words of hope. Hope in the future that is there for us to change into positive what other minds destructed. My heart goes to the suffering victims and their families and to the souls of those perished. May God bless the survivors and all who were lucky enough not to be there, with a renewed hope in the nation that once believed in our capabilities and gave us the opportunity of job, home and freedom. May He bless all once again and forever. With all my love -Alilov, Montevideo, Uruguay May everyone in America and around the world find the strenght to cope with this terrible tragedy. A tragedy that will and may never be forgotten. God bless you all. -aspierings, Eindhoven, Netherlands My sincere sympathy goes to all the victims and the effected families. This is not only an attack on America, but more an attack against the whole civilised world. I still can't understand . . . so much innocent victims, why . . . ? ? ? ? -filipdebont, Belgium |
| I'm sitting here still in shock and disbelief at what has happened this morning. To all our American friends we share your grief and we offer our sincerest condolences. I know all of Ireland feels this pain also as we have such close ties with America and I'm sure everybody here on VT and throughout the world will join us in praying for the families, friends and indeed all those hurt on this day. -Enzo, Ireland As I heard the news I felt like that morning when Yugoslav army tanks were sent to Slovenia. I'm still in shock. My heart's with you. If Kentbein and Donal are reading this, please let me know if you're OK. I'm worried for you pals! -oja, Slovenia Today is a black day in history, not only for the USA, but for the whole world. My deepest sympathy goes to the victims and their families. -dutch_anna, Netherlands This is a Sad Sad Day... the only thing I can do is praying for the Victims and tell to the people there: my heart and all of my feelings is with you.... -Hamid_V, Iran |

We're all in this together. We're all supporting one another. We all need to credit each other for just hanging in there. I am including the "Kind Words" which I believe you can get on www.virtualtourist.com. Here they are: |
| Tonight I watched a plane take off from LAX into the sunset. In the past, I have complained how the planes obstruct our beautiful views. As I watched it gracefully ascend, I knew I would never complain again. This was the first small step of many to come. We, as a country and a world, will triumph over this tragedy with the help and support of everyone. Those who have volunteered to risk their lives and search for survivors; those who have waited hours in line to give blood; those who have donated millions of dollars to the American Red Cross to assist with the rescue effort; and those who have shared so many thoughtful and caring remarks regarding this tragedy. I have gathered a few remarks which demonstrate the world wide support for all affected by this tragedy. These comments have helped me, and I hope they do the same for you. Sincerely, J. R.
