Elementary Spanish K-5

 

Course Description: Grades K to 5th, students will be presented the fundamentals of the Spanish language through a linguistic, communicative, and cultural approach. There will be a focus on learning basic vocabulary words, songs, writing activities, fun games, cue cards, basic verb forms, practice correct pronunciation, read short dialogs, Hispanic culture and, others.

Students will have fun learning Spanish!

 

Material: Students will be require for Spanish a purple folder with pocket, school supplies (pencils, crayons, notebook paper, flash cards, colors pencils and others).

4th and 5th  workbook  Hola , will be used in class every day and will be issued to each student.

Please note that other specialty items may be needed throughout

the course.

 


Classroom Policies and Procedures:

 

1.     Classroom conduct and behavior: Students are expected to come to class each day with an attitude conductive to learning. As you now we all have to follow rules. Our rules for this year are:

·        Respect your teacher and classmates.

·        Follow direction the first time they are given.

·        Keep your hands, feet and objects to yourself.

·        Be polite and helpful.

·        Raise your hand wait for permission to speak.

·        Listen the teacher and do your best.

 

2.     Consequences for rule infractions include: warning , teacher- student conference, parent contact or referral. But if you follow our rules there will be different rewards.

 

3.     Evaluation Key: Homework and class work are expected to be done during the time that is assigned. The assignments will be located in a Spanish purple folder that is expected to be return the following week.

 

4.     Test or quizzes occur after completed each lesson. The students will be notified with at least two week in advance. If the test grades show that the class average was below 80%, the material must be review. Please, encourage your children to complete the home assignments and to practice what they learn in class. Repetition and practice are very effective when acquiring a second language.

 

5.     Students will be graded as follow:

·        S = Successful progress

·        N = Needs Improvement

·        U = Unsatisfactory progress
