Top Down Raglan Sweater (3T-4T size)

Top Down Raglan Sweater (size 3T-4T)

** The Photo above shows the Top Down Raglan Baby Sweater I made for my Newborn Girl (size 3 months) and the 3T-4T size Sweater I made for her Big Brother adjusting Carole Barenys' pattern.

I also made a 12 months size Sweater, summer version (1st photo on the right), using Lion Brand Baby Soft, color "Twinkle Print" # 293, and 6 shells buttons.

The second photo on the right shows another version of the Sweater I made size 3 months, using Bernat Baby Coordinate, color "soft blue" #01009, with eyelet ornaments.

What I like about this sweater is that possibilities are infinite!
This is a modification of the original Top Down Raglan Baby Sweater designed by Carole Barenys at Barbara Breiter's Knitting On The Net

MATERIALS: - Lion Brand Wool-Ease Sportweight, color "Natural Heather #098", 2 skeins
- 29" Circular needle # 3 US
- 29" Circular needle # 5 US
- 16" Circular needle # 5 US or a set of double pointed needles # 5 US
- Double pointed needles # 3 US
- 8 buttons 5/8" (16 mm)
- Markers (I use different color yarn).

GAUGE: 6 sts = 1 inch 9 rows = 1 inch, in Stockinette Stitch.

Stitches used: - Rib 2/2 (k2, p2,...)
                      - Stockinette stitch
                      - Increase (K 2 sts in front and back of the same stitch).
                      - Decrease (K2tog)

This sweater is knitted from the top down and doesn't have seams except a small one under arms.

Instructions:

Cast on 3 x 8 stitches more than instructed in the original pattern = 116 stitches on 29" #3 circular needle.

Follow Carole Barenys' pattern as instructed, until you have 51 sts on each front (5 K included), 70 sts on each sleeve and 92 sts in the back. = 334 sts total.

Button holes will be worked every 9 ridges (18 rows) for a total of 8.
You might want to put more space between buttonholes as the sweater is longer than instructed in the original pattern.

For the sleeves, place a marker under arm.

Dec. 1 st before and after marker every 6 rows, 8 times = 54 sts (6 1/2 ins.)

Work 19 rows in Rib 2/2.

Cast off in Rib 2/2.

** The lengh of the body is recommended by Carole Barenys's original pattern to be about the some lengh of the sleeves or slightly shorter, but I like it a little longer.
