Vocabulary
10 vocabulary words will be given out at the beginning of every week. Students will be quizzed on these words every Friday, and every fourth week, students will be given a test on the material from the last three quizzes.
Grammar/Writing
At least one class period at the beginning of every week will focus on a particular grammar or writing mechanics lesson. The material covered in each lesson will appear on the vocabulary quiz at the end of the week. Every fourth week, the material from the past three weeks will also appear on the vocabulary test.
Reading Assignments
In addition to the texts covered in class, each student is expected to read one book per marking period outside of class. (This requirement will not be in place last marking period) Students will take quizzes on these books, and will be expected to complete a writing assignment for each book they read. Book titles can be found through the link entitled �Book Assignments� on my web page (www.geocities.com/isaiahchapt53/). Synopses of all books can easily be found at www.amazon.com.
Other Writing
Students will also be expected to complete other writing assignments, which may range in length from a single paragraph to several pages. Unless it is impossible, I would like these assignments to be typed, double spaced, size 12 font, with one inch margins all around.
Study Hall
I will give study halls as time allows, particularly at times when I know workloads are building up. This will be a time when you will have the benefit of having me present to answer questions while you are working. You must work on English assignments only during this time. If this time is abused, it will disappear.
Research Project
Each student will be responsible for completing a research paper totaling at least 5 pages. More on this later.
