| A brief, conscice, 40 hour basic course directly related to the Combatives course taught to the US Army RANGERs of the 75th RANGER Regt. in Ft Benning Georgia. Taught in a 'rough', natural outdoor enviroment....definately not for those interested in a 'cushy' air-conditioned gym setting...but rather for those of a true 'Warrior Spirit'...who need a precursor to our more advanced Combatives Systems....this basic course is not required to participate in our other programs..... This initial basic course teaches the 13 core elements of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (from the Gracie view-point)and includes the "Offensive Mind-set" and striking techniques of the US Navy S.E.A.L.s combat system-"S.C.A.R.S." and Filipino wrestling (Dumog and Keena Mutai) and fighting arts drills. It is offered to promote self confidence and help build self esteem, as well as being an extremely realistic self-protection fighting system. The basic 40 Hour course ends upon completion of 20, 2 hour classes and can be followed up by 5 other courses/programs detailed below if desired: level 2: 80 hour Combatives course (introducing striking, and continued Filipino stick skills and Jeet Kune Do drills) level 3: Regular Makoa Kali/Silat Combatives course (introducing Punantukan, Sikaran and Punanjakman (Filipino 'boxing' and 'kick-boxing'), Muay Thai, Knife skills/drills and empty hand drills), advancement (or completion) at this stage varies according to personnal commitment and skill. level 4: 160 hour Associate Trainer Combatives course (overview of entire Combatives system to this point, at time of level 4 certification, fighter is permitted train others in a limited manner, under the umbrella of 'Makoa Combatives Group') level 5: Special Blade skills Combatives course based on the Filipino Art of Kali, same elements of the Art used on the movie "Hunted" filmed here in Oregon (choreographer for that movie was Tom Kier, a Chris Sayoc student-we base our blade-work on Sayoc Kali, Atienza Kali and my family system Makoa Kali), course is an on-going "tribe" or "club" type setting where members meet regularly to work the system and share different techniques and concepts. (Introduction to blade handling and offensive skills with drills, introduction to blade defensive skills (silak, or 'blade-locking') with drills, Strips, disarms and percussion techniques, stand-up and ground grappling with blade, trainer blade sparring, 'bikal' or projectile training with drills, etc.), special considerations made to advancing students at this point to be allowed to teach 'Makoa Kali', our family system of Blade-Craft.... level 6: All of the above, in an on-going "Tribe" scenario, with the introduction of "tracking" and other military and/or civilian outdoor skills. Emphasis is placed on Tracking/Fieldcraft at this level. Member at this point is permitted and certified to teach the Combative courses, levels 1-4, under the system title-"Makoa Combative Systems" and perhaps 'Makoa Kali' as well, in their own school settings. (Tracking/Fieldcraft skills based on hunting, 'mantracking' and Search and Rescue type tracking skills in both rural and urban settings. Fieldcraft is basic to advanced survival "Fieldcraft".) The basic 40 hour (30-90 days depending..)Combatives Program is $200.00 per person, or $300.00 per group of three, (THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE THE OTHER LEVELS-ONLY LEVEL 1) and can be done on a one on one basis-or in small groups. Certification in the Basic 40 hour Combatives Course is achieved upon completion of 20, 2 hour classes-after careful evaluation and testing of the candidate's learned skills. This will be done in a special evaluation session, and if candidate fails, he may re-evaluate and be tutored with skills he is lacking in at no charge until such time as he passes.
