College for occupations in the service industries management
5 years (from 15 to 19) provide a higher general and vocational education, we have about 40 lessons a week, all subjects are compulsory.
GENERAL SUBJECTS: mathematics, geography, history, biology, physics, arts, music, philosophy, psychology, religious education, gymnastics. - LANGUAGES: English, French or Italian, German -VOCATIONAL SUBJECTS: bookkeeping, economics, computing, typing and shorthand, wordprocessing with computers; creative design, dietetics, cooking, restaurant service, kitchen and service management.
From the third form we can specialise in either business-language or cultural tourism.
In summer between the 3rd and the 4th year we have to serve a three months practical training and work experience at a hotel and restaurant or office.
At the end of the 4th year we have final exams (practical) in restaurant service and cooking.
At the end of the 5th year there are final exams (called MATURA) written and oral, in general subjects, languages, bookkeeping and economics.
GRADUATES can go on to study at universities, or at colleges (for teachers or nurses or special tourism colleges), they can work in the hotel and catering industry, in tourism, in banking and finance, in offices, in the retail trade.
