Austrian Fashion

Austrian fashion is very much influenced by international trends like in any other western country. Young people like to wear casual clothes like jeans, shirts, sweatshirt, pullovers. Even girls don´t wear skirts very often. Girls wear dresses and skirts at special events and festivities. As we don´t have schooluniforms, casual wear is also worn at school. Young people like to go shopping for clothes at H&M, a popular Swedish retailer of young fashion. You can check out their fashion at www.hm.com .

Typical Austrian fashion is also influenced by the so-called "traditional country house style" using natural fabrics like linen, cotton and milled fabric (see attached text and pictures).

Traditional Austrian dresses are called "Dirndl" (see attached photos). They are very popular at traditional festivities in the country and worn by many girls.
