Notes on Garp editions courtesy of Joseph Sharp:

04.a The World According to Garp. New York: Durron, 1978. "First Edition" stated on copyright page.  Reported printing of 35,000 copies.  Irving's breakout book.  He switched publishers to Dutton, who promised a much more aggressive promotional campaign that that of his previous novels.

04.b
The World According to Garp. Toronto:Clark Irwin & Co.

04.c
The World According to Garp. London: Victor Gollancz, 1978.  First British edition.  Irving's first book to be published in the UK.  Unlike the plain-looking US dust-cover, the British & Australian editions share a colorful, pictorial design by London-based graphic artist Brian Grimwood (doubful he had time to read the book, since artwork doesn't match the subject).

04.d
The World According to Garp. Sydney: Hutchinson of Australia/Victor Gollancz, 1978. First Australian edition.  From the British sheets & shares the same cover art.

04.1/up.a1
The World According to Garp. New York: Dutton, 1978.  Uncorrected Proof; First Issue.  In bright yellow-green.  According to Bookseller Ken Lopez, true proofs for this title are scarce because the Advance Copy had a large print run of 1,500.

04.1/up.a2
The World According to Garp. New York: Durron, 1978. Uncorrected Proof; Second Issue. In tall, mustard wrappers.  According to Ahearn Price Guide, Ken Lopez notes this as another "first issue proof" (12/94: $600).  In May, 2000, Bentley's Bookshop (Greenville, SC) was offering a signed, inscribed copy of this proof, graded VG+, for $600.
