| There are three types of dance shoes! ~soft shoes~ ~hard shoes~ ~boys reel shoes~ |
| Soft shoes are worn by girls only. They are made of leather and are black. They lace up around your foot. Soft shoes are danced in for Reel, Light Jig, Slip Jig, Ceili dance. They are also called gillies. |
| Hard shoes are worn by both girls and boys, and are used for the hard shoes dance. Treble Jig, Hornpipe, the sets, Traditional Sets, and Treble Reel. They are made of black leather as well, but have and fiber glass tip and heel. |
| I don't kno very much about boys reel shoes, except that they are like hard shoes but they have no tip and they are used for reel and Light Jig, boys do not do slip jig. |

| There are many different brands of hardshoes and soft shoes, you pick the brand that you like the best! Here are some links to palces online where you can buy shoes, but some dance stores will carry them! |
