This being the final trip to Washington before returning the Three Jeans to the Bay Area, Carol and Scotty drove the pickup up to Anacortes without any stops for sightseeing.
Nordic Tugs had completed some minor fixes to the boat and Cap Sante Marine had serviced the engine before we arrived so the boat was ready to travel as soon as we got there. We had to do our now regular things, buying provisions and having dinner in Anacortes before heading off the next day for Friday Harbor. The weather was cool, for the most part clear, and the waters were ideal for cruising. This was Carol’s first visit to Friday Harbor, where we spent the night.
The next morning we cruised around the island to Roche Harbor where we did a lot of touring by foot and then had dinner before spending the night docked there. Jean and I had found Roche Harbor to be quite interesting the month before so Carol had to experience it too.
We then took a leisurely cruise around many of the islands and stopped a couple of places trying to find a place to eat lunch, but couldn’t find anything open. Ultimately, we dropped anchor in a small cove and made lunch on the boat. That stop for provisions paid off!
By evening we were berthed in La Conner where we had dinner and spent the night. La Conner was visited every time we went up and was always an enjoyable place to visit.
The next day we left early for Anacortes where we prepared the boat for shipping home the next day. We had to remove everything above the roof to make it low enough to fit under the overpasses. It also gave Scotty an opportunity to bring home the smoke stack for painting before the boat was due to arrive and be reassembled in the Bay Area.
We had a variety of weather on the trip back, but considering it was February, the lack of snow was appreciated. The high winds were not, however.
