The Three Jeans - October 2002

We left home on October 12, 2002, to travel to Anacortes, Washington, where we would be taking delivery of our new boat, the Three Jeans. The Three Jeans, named after Carol Jean, Jean Elizabeth, and Bonnie Jean is a Nordic Tugs 37 - a tugboat inspired full displacement trawler 39' long and 13' wide.

We drove to Portland, Oregon, the first day and then went up the Columbia River Gorge to Leavenworth, Washington. Leavenworth is a German motif town, similar to Solvang. We arrived on the last night of their Oktober Fest celebration. We look forward to going back another time as we left much to be seen.

We arrived in Anacortes, Washington, about a half hour before the truck arrived with the boat. It was exciting, and scary, to see it lifted up in the air and finally to see it floating.

We spent a couple of days just "moving in", touring the nearby Nordic Tugs factory, and then finally taking it for a couple of short cruises.

Due to its hull design, it handles the water like a dream, and with all the latest in electronic navigation equipment, it inspires confidence in even the newest skipper.

October 13, 2002: Off I-84, just ease of Portland, there was a "Historic Highway" sign which we followed. It led us onto the old Route 30 road. Within a mile we had to stop at this business and pay a visit.
