Most of you would probably not have heard of this movie before since its a rather old film starring Christopher Reeves and Jane Seymour... have you even heard of them? Heh... well, for the uninitiated, this is the geist of the story.
This is the book from which the plot was taken. Originally titled Bid Time Return, this recent reprint is retitled Somewhere In Time to link to the movie itself. It was a well written book and makes rather good reading material.

Christopher Reeves is Richard Collier, a playwright dying of cancer in the 1970s. Rather than be a burden to his brother and sister-in-law, he leaves home one day.
After driving aimlessly for a day, he chances upon the Grand Hotel where he decides to stay for the night.
In the hotel museum, he is mesmerized by a portrait of Elise McKenna (Jane Seymour), an actress in the early 1900s. In fact, he was so taken by her that he did research on her and tried desperately to go back in time to meet her...
... which he actually managed to do and through that, developed a beautiful relationship which was brought to an abrupt end when he was accidentally brought back to the present, leaving Elise McKenna devastated and totally clueless as to where he disappeared to. After several unsuccessful attempts to return to the past, Richard Collier succumbs to his tumour and dies.

In the book itself, it was argued that the entire encounter was merely an hallucination due to his brain tumour, since time travel is impossible. What do you think? Despite the unrealistic plot, this movie is my favourite because it boasts a terrific soundtrack by John Barry which very convincingly sets the mood in the show. The scenery was beautiful, and of course, the actors did a great job.
