Serpentine - is a mineral. Its chemical make-up is (Mg,Fe)3Si2O5(OH)4
I tried as best I can to preserve the colors, adjusting them in photoshop while looking at the actual specimen. I made a quick trip to the book store and thumbed through a few rock and mineral books. I could not find any pictures that matched exactly to what I have, but a few came close enough. The sample has an oily feel to it.
Plume Agate - chemcial make-up is SiO2. The white part of the sample is milky, almost transparent. It has a pinkish tint to it, but this tint changes with the samples background.
Howlite - chemical make-up Ca2B5SiO9(OH)5. The dark lines are grey in color. If you look closely you can see tiny spots of blue and olive. It has a very dry, almost chalky feel to it. It is very difficult to get the exact color of white. The sample is brighter and has a chalky look to it, which I could not reproduce with a camera.
