The Truth About Missile Defense - This article is by Steven Weinberg. I think he is best known for his books on cosmology. I was lucky enough to catch an interview of him on college radio. In this article, he discusses some of the issues surrounding America's missile defense program. I was familiar with MAD ( mutually assured destruction ) before reading this article, and now I have much more insight into the pros and cons of America's missile defense programs.

Maine's War on Coyotes - A piece on why Maine has declared open season on Coyotes. The author is against such actions and points out the politics involved behind the scenes, while environmentalists are ignored.

The Bottleneck - This article is by Edward O.Wilson. If you have not read anything from him, you are truly missing out. Earths ability to support our growth is finite. We are on a crash course with environmental catastrophe. How can we shift to a culture of permanence ? Man is a geophysical force and can not act without any regards to the environment which sustains him, and all life on this planet. Wilson also talks about a brithrate that would bring the population growth to zero, China's impending crisis, and why humans have trouble thinking many generations ahead.
Factoring Humanity by Robert J. Sawyer  Not his best work, but read it

This is the second book I have read from this author. Flashforward was an excellent book .............and this one is pretty good also. I have noticed my different style of reviewing books. But I did not plan that out. Until now. I am going to just give the 'meat and potatoes' of this book.

Ricky Ricardo and Quince both share an uncommon trait. They both have the same first and last name. Is this true ?

The Drake equation estimates the number of broadcasting civilizations in the universe.

Einstein never understood and called quantum mechanics "spooky action at a distance."

'The Water Hole" refers to a group of frequencies ( between hydrogen and hydroxyl - the two components of water ) in the Earth's atmosphere that are most transparent to radio waves.

The fourth dimension is thought to be very special in the fact that it allows the possiblility to have manifolds that are topologically but not smoothly equivalent.

Humanity is all connected at the 'overmind.' A 'place' in the fourth dimension where everyones memories are recorded. It is one structure but it is not aware of itself, and humans are not aware of it. ( the case of an innate ability of language is brought up as an example - everyone says 'big yellow ball' instead of 'yellow big ball' , yet no one is taught to say one or the other )

Quantum mechanics note : things are indeterminate until they are observed.

OK, so you still do not know anything about the story. But take my word, it is pretty good especially if you find the above topics interesting......
