Zuko sat on the steps of the church during his mother’s wake alone. Tears dripped down his bandaged face. “If I had not been so reckless.” He muttered to himself wallowing in grief. The burnt fourteen year old did not even notice the soft tan hand on his shoulder. “Zuko, your uncle is here…” Katara muttered. Zuko looked up to his best friend then returned his gaze to the ground. He knew that after tonight his life would forever change. Tonight, he was being sent to live with his uncle. He was never going to see her again. Katara drew Zuko’s face to look at her. She leaned down, merely an inch from his face. “Zuko…” the tomboyish blue eyed girl kissed her friend gently on the lips. “Don’t you dare forget about me.” She whispered and with that she rejoined her brother and grandmother inside.

Zuko woke up in his dorm room at the University of Ba Sing Se with a small smile on his face. “It was just a dream” he placed two fingers to his lips as he remembered his first kiss and his dearest childhood friend who gave it to him. “Katara…” he spoke her name no louder then a whisper and changed his clothes then left his room with his Spanish text book in hand making his way to class.
