“Zuko, that’s dumb!”

“No it’s not!”

“Yes it is!”

“No it’s not!”

Iroh shook his head as he slipped on his jacket and boots. Normally, he wouldn’t have bothered to interfere when Katara and Zuko argued. They were both smart kids and he knew they would eventually work things out. However, when their yelling from outside caused his tea cup to vibrate, he decided that he had best investigate.

The snow crunched under Iroh’s feet as he headed into the front yard. Katara and Zuko continued to yell. Iroh cleared his throat, hoping to catch their attention. When he did it a third time and still had no response, he had no choice but to yell “QUIET!!”

Instantly, Katara and Zuko’s mouths both shut. Iroh was known for being the fun uncle and rarely ever yelled. So, for Uncle Iroh to actually yell, they knew it was serious.

Iroh smiled to lessen their fears. “Now then, what is causing you two to argue so much that you’re making the whole house shake?”

Katara placed both of her hands on her hips. She knew that it was a sign of being mature because women always did it on TV. “We’re building a snowman, but Zuko wants to use a carrot for the nose.”

“Well what’s wrong with that? A carrot would make a fine nose.”

“That’s what I’ve been saying,” Zuko mumbled.

Katara rolled her eyes. “But everyone uses a carrot! I want to do something different!”

“Hmm.....that is a valid point.” Iroh murmured. “However, that is no reason for you two to be screaming at each other.”

“Sorry,” Katara and Zuko quietly replied.

Iroh nodded in approval. “I also see no reason why you two couldn’t find something else to use for the snowman’s nose and I’m sure it can be something you can both agree on.”

Once Katara and Zuko gave their understanding nods, Iroh returned inside. An hour later Iroh peered out the kitchen window and chuckled. Zuko and Katara had built the only snowman on the block with a Twinkie for its nose.
