Zuko waited, checked his watch impatiently and waited some more.

Any second now, Katara would walk through those doors and after the two hours since Spanish class, he would finally be able to go and ambush her so they could catch up on each other’s lives.

“Hey! I was wondering where you were! D’you wanna get some lunch?”

Zuko didn’t answer. If Jin was talking to him, her wasn’t listening. What was taking Katara so long?

“Zuko? Hello?”

“What?” asked Zuko, not really paying any attention to Jin whatsoever.

“I was asking if you wanted to get some lunch,” said Jin. “What’s up with you? You seem preoccupied…”

The doors opened. There she was, clad in blue and looking about eagerly trying to find him. She caught sight of him after a moment and waved.

Zuko grinned back and reached for his bag.

“Zuko?” asked Jin, “Are you going somewhere?”

“Yeah,” said Zuko absently, “I’ll see you later, okay?” He slung his bag over his shoulder and left without another word, jogging up to his old time friend, leaving Jin standing stunned and speechless next to the old oak tree Zuko had been standing near seconds before.

She stared after him incredulously. “Zuko! Hey!”

Zuko didn’t hear her – he was busy trying to escape from Katara’s bone-crushing hug. “Katara! It’s been such a long time, how are you?”

Jin glared.
