Sucks to be a freshman (Original link) Author: Lady_mage The first week of classes is HELL when your dorm is located at the opposite side of the campus to where your classes are and your first class of the day was ungodly early. It sucks even more when your inconsiderate and very blond roommate un-plugs your alarm clock for her blow dryer. So now Katara had only 15 mins (out of the 25 it took to walk) to get to her 8 am class. “Why must I be late again!” Katara cursed to herself as she wove in and out of other students. “Mental note: get bike at next visit home!”
Yesterday had gone similarly for Katara. Her first class had gotten out late only giving her a few minutes for lunch, which in the end made her later for her afternoon class. “Spanish…boy was that going to be fun.” She discovered that her childhood best friend was in it as well, not that she wasn’t ecstatic to know Zuko was at the same college as her but when she look for him after class he was already gone. She was depressed and pissed off that he hadn’t even said ‘hi’ or ‘let’s meet later.’ And that evening she took out her frustration on one of the SAC’s punching bag. “I’ll find him and when I do, he’ll get an earful.” Katara mutter darkly to herself as she took a short cut across the libraries lawn. She was at a jagging pace now and not really paying attention to the people up ahead, which ended up being her down fall as she crashed head first into a person crossing her path. Books and paper went flying and Katara found her flat on her butt in the dew-covered grass. The boy in front of her got to his knees and started collecting his parts while cursing at her to watch where she’s going. Katara who was now collecting her own books looked up to make a come back when she frozen, middle insult. There was Zuko, scar and all, brushing off his jeans and look pissed off as ever. She gapped for a moment until finally his name left her mouth. Time seem to stop as his head snapped up to look at her, eyes meeting instantly. Hundreds emotion where going through her in those few second before she shot up and wrapped her arms around his neck. She had honestly though when she saw him next that she would have whacked him up-side the head but as he wrapped his arms around her waist and held her close, she knew she did the right thing. “What happen yesterday?” she said into she shoulder. “I had class…” Katara could here the hit of humor in his voice and she couldn’t help but laugh. “Being a freshman sucks, don’t it.” She says as she pulls away to look at him. “Indeed it does.” He replied as he wipes away a few threatening tears from her eyes. “I’ve missed you…” Katara says softly. “I know; I’ve missed you too.” He hugged her again then pulled back and asks “Where you heading?” “Roku Hall, for Freshman English” she replies “How convenient, me too. I have a couple hours after this class why don’t we meet up and have lunch together.” Smiling broadly Katara agreed. Books and papers where picked up again and they walked hand in hand the rest of the way to class, all thoughts of tardiness gone from their heads. With the promise of lunch at the student center, time seem to fly by and when the all classes where done for the day, Katara went back to her dorm with a hall name and room number on a slip of paper and Zuko a phone number written on his arm. Maybe freshman year won't be so bad after all.
