“You can’t marry Jet.” He says, folding his legs on her dorm bed (the last place he needs to be at the moment). It’s the first time he’s seen her in what feels like eternity, but he can’t help but argue with her over this.

 

“Get over yourself, Zuko.” She mumbles, grabbing the stuffed penguin off of her bed and clutching it tightly.  “It’s not like he’s actually proposed to me,” she blushes, “Yet.  We just talked about it…”

”And I’m telling you,” He leans closer to her, his face red.  “That you can’t marry him.”

 

She rolls her eyes.  “Says who?” She plays, sticking her tongue out and pushes him away from her.

 

But Zuko is faster.  “Says me.” All too suddenly, he’s too close, his face too near, his eyes too familiar, and his smell too intoxicating.  “I wouldn’t let you marry him before,” Their noses touch. “What makes you think I’d let you now?”

 

“What are you going to do about it?” She whispers, finding it hard to breathe when he’s this close.

 

He doesn’t answer with words—but that’s okay.  His kiss says so much more.
