And did I mention I only drew in anime? Oh, God in Heaven, you're thinking. Yeah, you'd be about right. I have nothing against anime, I still love the stuff, but I realized that the style of Western comics was much more versatile. It took the better part of a year to convert drawing styles, and I am never looking back. End of Story. _________________________________________________________________________ |
| This has some fond memories for me. It's the very first comic I ever tried to do, one titled "Feudal Awakening". It had some convoluted plot that I don't want to go into right now. It's under the list to be revamped, but it has to wait its turn. This page is the title page/page 1. If you're confused, well, in brief, the elf is trying to catch the goblin and sends his familiar, a phoenix named Fiore, to do it. |
| The second page of "Feudal Awakening". The goblin, Fenrir, is trying to escape the Elf (whose name is Avryk, FYI) because he has a Very Important Mission. But Fiore catches him regardless. Go Fiore. |
| The third page of "Feudal Awakening". Fenrir finds a way to get away from Fiore! He's so very, very bright. The three elves with Avryk in the first panel are The Scary Priest Elves. They serve no purpose other than to look ominous. My best friend thought they were mad sexy. I think they just look goofy. |
| The fourth and final page of "Feudal Awakening". Avryk has caught Fenrir, and his plans for the poor goblin are less than pleasant. Don't you just wanna find out what happens next? Well you can't. Tough. |
| This is still from during my anime schtik, but you can't really tell. It was the first and only time I've ever tried to draw fetuses. I think it worked pretty well. It was supposed to be about a genetically engineered centaur, but it never really had a story and ended up getting shunted aside. I still love this page, though (the title is totally hand done) and the idea may be dug up again sometime in the future. |
| Still anime, but the wings are lovely. This is Kaiyu, a Sphinx from a discarded story about a Demon Hunter prodigy. I toyed with Kaiyu a lot, giving him bird wings and bat wings, but I think the pterodactyl wings suit him the best. |
| I hate this picture so much ... it's sloppy and mal-proportioned and I hate how Kaiyu looks in it, but it's the only picture I have of Shoka, besides the one manga test page I did for her. Shoka is the Demon Hunter prodigy, and Kaiyu is her protector. Beyond that, there was never much of a story. But Kaiyu is a babe. |
| * NOW WITH TEXT!! * Shoka's Mange Test Page! I drew this while wasting time at my local Anime Club, and it got me a lot of attention from other members. Beyond that, it's more detailed than any other page I'd done, and it was my first attempt at action lines. I think the rest is clear enough. |
