Nathan finally wins the big one!
By Brandon Lasher
"Its about time I won again," said Nathan upon winning the season-ending Tournament
of Champions. It was about time that Nathan won a major after many near misses. But this one was
close with Kristy, Mike, Brandon, Josh, Steve, and Alan all having a chance to win the major
going into the final round. Ben was the lone "rebel" and finished eighth.
"Disco rules, baby!" said an happy Alan upon receiving the second place award of a disco cd.
He finished dead last at the first round at his course and proceeded to win the final two rounds.
He fell one point short of Nathan to be runner-up. Brandon was right behind in third place.
Playoffs naturally occured with Steve beating Josh for fourth place. "I was gipped
again!" said Josh as this was a second major playoff he has lost this year. In another playoff,
Mike beat Kristy for sixth. This after Kristy won the first round and was on her way to another
win when the "Coughing Incident" occured.
Kristy has reached the Cole Course "Inside Tire" end stick first. But everytime she was
about to shoot, Alan started to cough, thus throwing her off. She never recovered and took seventh.
She was unable to comment as she was planning Alan's death. Alan, our great player of the year!
But on this day, Nathan was the king. So ends another unique year of IMC.

2000 Croquet Awards at the Cough Home...T.B.A.Ironman Croquet 2000: A Year in Review
Ironman Croquet 2000 will always be known as a year of drastic changes. The famous Sith Lords of 1999 ended with Jon sudden mid-year retirement and Brandon's poor season. Heck, Steve even went winless in 2000! But expansion was important as well. Two regular rookies, Kyle Murdoch and Josh Ryker, contended for multiple tournaments. Three other rookies contended this year as well. We had less tournaments at the famed Lasher Course, but more events at the Cough, Unfred, Manka, and Cole courses. The year begun with the new faction, The Ewoks (Nathan and Alan), battling the final days of the Sith Lords' power in IMC. Nathan and Jon traded early season victories. Jon even lost his chocolate bunny prize in the fray! The final insult was when Alan ran away with the Orange Shirt Classic with the Sith Lords far behind. While Jon left, the league finally stopped being only a man's game. Kristy Cough began an amazing five tournament winning streak. She usually took out Alan from winning whenever possible. She ended this amazing streak by outdueling Nathan by inches for the Scott Balthrop major. But it was Alan's year. With Kristy on vacation, Alan won three straight epic battles agianst Steve. While Brandon pulled out the Spam King trophy, the Ewok completed the season with a one-two finish in the season-ending major. Nathan begun and ended the year with a win. It was a year of change, new winners, teary farewells, chocolate bunnies, and many peeps. Let's hope 2001 is as interesting!
