The News for those few who play real croquet! September 2, 2000

Alan beats Steve again. Gore wins important Ryker vote.

Al Gore, choice of Josh Ryker's everywhere.

Alan wins Chrono Open on Steve's course.

By Brandon Lasher

Practice doesn't help. After practicing multiple times on this course, Brandon and Steve,
still lost to league leader Alan who won his third straight victory. Steve again lost a close
duel to Alan and Josh made his choice for Election 2000 known.

Quickly, Alan and Steve, jumped to a huge lead making sure it was a two-man race. Steve
finished the eighth shot first and tried to eliminate Alan by knocking him down the hill. Sure
in victory Steve conservatively approached the end stick in the elevated garden box. In the
time Steve took, Alan recovered and did an amazing flop shot to claim the win. It is safe to
say Alan is pretty good. Steve, miffed, took a third straight second to Alan.

While Ben claimed only his second top three (third) of the year and Brandon a sad
fourth. But it was Josh who showed his political colors. Out of practice for months, Josh
continued to fall into multiple bushes around the course and into the street. After finally
finishing last, Josh had this to say...

"Damn Bush!" the first political stance taken by a member of I.M.C. so far. Maybe it was
Bush's stance on education, his energy policy, or the fact Steve has a shot called George Bush
that Josh screwed up on. Anyway a win for Alan and more importantly for Al Gore!

History of the League

By Brandon Lasher
I am a history major. In being such I hold a deep respect for the history of
the world. I am a I.M.C. player as well and I see a ignorance of our great history.
That is just wrong.

So I am founding the IMCPS (Ironman Croquet Presevation Society) to record our
great history. So I will from time to time in future newsletters remember the past events,
people, and shots of croquet that might otherwise be forgotten. The little known facts that
need to be passed on to future croquet generations. So they can see how much time we wasted
in our lives playing this silly game.

In the next newsletter, I will talk about the greatest tournament before the start of
the league, the 1998 Big Seven tourney. One of the biggest and longest one round tournaments
ever in I.M.C. history. Where most of the league future stars begun and lots of great shots
used today were begun.

You must remember your history or you will be doomed to repeat it. Repeat stupid ideas
like the ones in the Big Seven.
