Restaurants: Nakamura was the head chef at Nadaman in the New Otani Hotel in Tokyo. I've also seen the restaurant name translated Nadaban. Now, he works at his own place in Ariake called Ariake Koumei.
Background: Nakamura retired from the show after losing to frequent challenger, Kandagawa Toshiro in Battle Ara. At the beginning of the battle, Nakamura said that he would retire if he lost and sure enough, he was, just barely, beaten. On February 13 and 20 of 1998, Nakamura had a special farewell retirement battle. Nakamura cited the increasing pressure to create new dishes as the main reason he retired. His winning record on the show was rocky and one of his show retrospectives was less than polite in pointing out his losses.
