Comments: Hey Ricroc, got your e-mail invite to come back and check the
updates on your page. You have
done quite a bit of work on it!!!! Great site!! As I told you a while back my
cousin Harry D. Spier was a sky
trooper with the Herd and was KIA 10 July 1967. The little bastards got just about his whole platoon. So you can see I have a special place in my heart for the Herd. Harry's Mother recently gave me his 173D Vietnam Book
(The Third Year) and I have went over it with
a fine tooth comb. If you would like to have it or know of another Herd member
that does not have one I would be happy to send it. Harry was like a big
brother to me and I
thought the world
of him, but I think the book would mean more to one of you who walked the walk over there.
I was there from Aug 1968 to Dec 1972 flying
as a gunner on AC-130 Gunships. A lot of people refer to
us as Puffs, which
is fine, but our call sign was actually SPECTRE. We hated it when you needed our support because it meant all
hell was loose and we were losing Buds on the ground, but we loved working for
you
when the situation
arouse. If you haven’t, visit our site, www.spectre-association.org. Be cool on that Harley
and keep up the good work on your site. Welcome Back! Jim Spier.

opportunity. My birthday is on the
same day as the
anniversary of the wall. So, even though it is just another birthday, it is a
very special day.
My cousin Rodney
Glenn Oxendine, was 173rd Airborne Brigade B11/1P.KIA 12Aug 69, Binh Dinh. I am
trying
to find others who knew/served with him.
Also, I am trying to figure out what group/company he was in.
There were so many, I'm not sure if he
belongs with you guys or not. Thank you and God bless you all!!!
P.S. I suffer from
PTS and when i can't sleep I think about my cousin and I know he is waiting for
me in a
better place.

Comments: Hello all you troopers out there, hey saw the name Gene
Counselman served A. Co. 1/503 Abn Weapons Platoon 67-68. I was in the weapons
platoon at the same time, remember Hamp? I'm the skinny
Puerto Rican guy
(ha-ha). Remember humping that tube, base plate and tripod along with the ammo.
We
were like mules.
But those 11 Bravos loved us when those HE rounds came flying out of that tube.
I think we
were the fastest mortar crew in the Nam
(ha-ha). Another trooper mentioned the lack of participation from members of
the 1st Battalion, I've noticed it too. Hey guys lets get into
this Society of ours and leave a "living legacy" for all those future
PARATROOPERS. AIRBORNE .

Comments: Sorry to sound so dumb. But I have a question. Is the Airborne a division of the Army? I would
like
to add a link on my
page but I have four military sites and I'm not sure which one to put it on AIR
FORCE or
ARMY? I found your
site via the SOCIETY OF THE 173D AIRBORNE BRIGADE and noticed the area of those who had died. If it is alright,
each of my sites has a Hall Of Memories, I would be honored to add their names.
Let me
know what you think
and If I am right about the Army being the right branch. Forgive my ignorance!

A Note From:

We don’t know why… Butt lately no one has signed up in the guest books like they
Used to. A little shy since our Country is now at War? May be everyone else is hiding in
their Bunkers, hoping a war won’t touch their lives. I hope it doesn’t either, but if it should,
the Bunkers are the places to visit. And I do know, if they don’t get motivated, they won’t be
