Parent Letter
Dear Parent;

My name is Mr. Anchondo, and I will be your child's eight-grade Science teacher for the 2005-2006 school year.  I'd like to take this opportunity to tell you a few things about myself--both personally and professionally.

I was born and raised here in El Paso Texas.  I graduated from Austin High School.  Prior to becoming a teacher, my interest was in becoming a police officer.  I gradutaed from the Unversity of Texas at El Paso with a bachelors in Education.  My areas of certification are Math, Science, History, and English.  I want to reassure you that your child is in good hands.  I'm very excited about the upcoming year.

We will be covering many areas of Science within this year.  Some of the upcoming topics will be astronomy, chemistry, physical science, earth science, and biology.

The main focus of this class is to get students excited about science and the world around them.  To accomplish this, I believe students need to take control of their learning.  Learning comes from doing, and we'll be doing a lot of science.

As a parent, you are the most important person in your child's life, and we need to work together for your child's benefit.  I need your support for the homework assignments, academic expectations, and classroom discipline plan; which I have set fo the students.  I will keep you informed about your child's progress.  With both of us working together, I know your child can have a successful year.

If you need to contact me, you can call at 434-5400.  My conference time is at 10:10- 11:25 am.  Thank you

I believe it's safe to say that there isn't a job on the face of the earth that is as
difficult as raising children. One of the main problems is that children tend to do things that the "how to" manuals never cover, which is where talking withother parents or reading articles by parenting experts can really help.

At
ParentTime, type in the age group of your child, and you're presented with a multitude of categories for that particular age, including behavior checkpoints, fears, trials and triumphs, and kids with special needs. This impressive site is a "must see" for parents.

Learn how you can provide the best learning environment for your child at the
Family Education Network. Discover the latest education news, find homework assistance, or glance through category after category of articles and advice.

Be sure to visit
Parent Soup and look over their extensive chat schedule. You'll find an unbelievable number of sessions offered in topics such as Blended Families, Positive Discipline, Raising Moral Children, and Parents with Teens. The site also features communities based on the age of your child, where you can post messages to bulletin boards or read relevant articles.

The Family Resource Center is a well-rounded website that offers ideas for family activities, advice on parenting, help with raising teens, and even tips for school projects. Not only that, you'll also find home improvement articles, advice on quality television viewing, and online IQ tests.
