my mind is swimming
searching for solid ground to stand on
waves wash over me
fear and ecstasy
each one stronger than its predecessor
swelling and swirling
tossing and turning
pushing me down
pressing from all sides
I cannot breathe
I feel faint
Im going under
from above
hands grasp mine
pulling me up
out of deep, dark waters
into the light
arms enfold me
a kiss of life, love
my eyes open
I see your face
there in the still waters of your soul
shimmering in your eyes
I place a timid toe my footing is solid
my other foot joins the first
I do not fall
I reach out to you
you hold me close
taking me where no one has been before
the unknown
yet I have no fear
only ripples of ecstasy
washing over me
kissing my healing wounds
caressing my fading bruises
I am safe
I am whole
I am alive
for the first time in my life
I am
