SOFT SHOES-AKA GHILLIES, POMPS,LIGHT SHOES. These are the shoes that girls wear to dance figures, reel, jig, slip jig, and ceili. They are made of soft black leather and lace up (every dancer has her own way of tying her shoes. If your not sure ask your teacher). The bottoms can be either hard tan leather or soft black leather, its the dancers choice. I use the soft black bottoms because it shows off pointing more so you don't have to worry about perfect point. |

HARD SHOES- AKA HEAVY SHOES, JIG SHOES. These are the shoes that make all the noise. Boys and girls use these shoes to do treble jig, non traditional and traditional set, hornpipe and treble reel. Like the soft shoes they are made of black leather and they lace up like a normal shoe would. Like the soft shoes they can have either hard tan leather bottoms or soft black leather bottoms, again it is the dancers choice. I use the tan hard leather bottoms because I need the extra support. |

POODLE SOCKS- AKA GHILLE SOCKS. These are the socks that girls wear with their hard and soft shoes. They look like they have little "bubbles" in them and are worn almost like knee socks now with the older dancers. They are held up with sock glue. |
SOCK GLUE- This holds up poodle socks. Some dancers carry a glue stick as back up but sock glue works way better. Glue sticks don't stick very long. Sock glue goes beyond your dance bag too. I've used it to hold up strapless dresses i haven't been too confident in and its done a wonderful job. |

PRACTICE SHOES- These are similar to what jazz dancers wear. They are good for hardshoe practice and some softshoe practice. The only problem occurs is if you have really inricate steps the shoes are a little clunky. |
Dress Bag- It's very important to cover you dress to keep it safe and to help you carry it around. There are many different styles to choose from today, like full side zippers, down the front, or bigger ones to store multiple dresses. You can also store your dress in your dress bag at home under your bed. |
