WHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR FIRST CLASSASS
So your just starting to get involved in the great world of Irish dance?  Don't worry, just keep in mind that the teacher you choose wants to help you thats why he or she teaches.  If your starting Irish dance to compete or just for fun this is what you should expect.
-When you get there you will, of course, be introduced to your teacher.  Then they may introduce you to your classmates or she may have a fellow student do it for him or her.
-Then the dancing begins.  If you are an older girl,  your teacher may have a more experienced student teach you the first step of the jig. If you are a younger girl in a begginers class your teacher might start with warm ups or strechting then you'll all start to learn together.
-After some dancing your teacher might give you a water break.  During this time get to know some of your class mates a little better.  Its important that you become friends with them because you are going to be spending a lot of time with them and you  eventually might do ceilis or fiures with them.
-This is what you should expect.  After your class is over, ask your teacher if he or she can write down the step you learned that day so you can review it at home.  When you get home you can stretch or do a small cool down.
-Practicing at home is going to be a big part of your irish dancing life.  Don't worry however if you don't have a huge garage or living room to practice in.  You can get good practice just about anywhere.  If you don't have enough room, work on little parts of the steps or review your steps slowly working on turn out.  Concentrate on getting the small parts you don't feel comfortable with.
Good luck with your first class!!!!
