| My Country Haven The garden in our back yard is growing oh so tall. On our front porch is our wooden swing Inside our yard are trees so huge With leaves that bring heaven in the fall. In our yard still stand the old water pump In the ground for decoration. How wonderful this autumn air And our Southern declaration. Our neighbors help at all cost If there's someone else in need. No sacrifice is too great round' here We've never stood for greed. In our house stands a dresser, It was my hubby's great-grand's. It will always be in our family, Will never be in a stranger's hands. The wind blows silently here Within our southern nights. Without the stuffy air of town And all the neon lights. The quietness of our mornings here Makes life worth living thrice. Lord thank you for our family, And our country life! By: Shelly Belk, 2005 |
