Mom's Ancestors
1.) David desMarets b. 1620 Beauchamps, France, died Oct. 16, 1695 at present day New Milford New Jersey.  Married Marie Sohier, daughter of Francois Sohier and Marggriets, from Nieppe, a town of Hainault, France.  She died about 1677/8 about the time of the removal from Harlem NY to the new home on the Hackensack River at New Milford, then called Kinderkamack.  David was a highly respected man wherever her lived.  He later married the widow Anna Cronk.  She was possibly the housekeeper.
Children were:
Jean, Marie,
David, Samuel, Marie, Marie, and Daniel.

2.)
David desMarets Jr. born Dec. 20, 1651 and died Aug. 1691.  He married Rachel Cresson daughter of Pierre.  She married twice after David desMarets died.  Tradition says that he was killed by a falling tree.  He left no will.
Children were:
David, Peter, Susanna, Rachel,
Jacobus, Samuel, Daniel, and Mary.

3.)
Benjamin desMarets b. 1691.  Married Elizabeth DeGroot.  No death records have ever been found for the both of them.
Children were:
Rachel, Peter, Belitie, David, Jacob, Lydia, Rebecca,
Samuel, and Eisjen.

3.)
Jacob B. Demarest born Sept. 22, 1723.  He married "unknown".  He signed the "Pledge of Allegiance" at Goshen with his sons Benjamin and Peter, the son John signed at Haverstraw.  David and Samuel who signed also at Goshen may have been his sons.
Children were:
John, David, Jacob, Peter,
Benjamin, and Annatie (Hannah)

4.)
Samuel Damaree born Feb. 1, 1707 died in Ky.  Married Antie Losier daughter of Nicholas-Tryntie Slot.  After her death, he married Leah Demerest (Samuel spelled his name Demaree), continued by his decendants.

5.)
Petrus D. Demaree born May 13, 1761 and died June 16, 1832.  He married Sara Demarest b. June 17, 1760.  His will was dated Feb.26, 1816 and is at Johnstown, NY.
Children were:
David,
Nicholas, Maria, Samuel, Abraham, John, Daniel, and Elsie.

6.)
Nicholas Pl Demaree born May 7, 1787 and died June 13, 1867.  He married Jane Brouwer.  They lived at Broadabin, later at Carlton NY, and Girard, Michigan, they were burried there.  His estate in Branch County Michigan.
Children were:
Peter,
William, John N., Maria (Caroline), Elihu, Henry N., Mary L., Charles F., and Salina.

7.)
William W. Demarest born March 16, 1813 and died July 9, 1894.  He married Lydia Harriet Steinberg, daughter of Benjamin and Eliza, burried in Girard, Michigan.
Chilren were:
Edwin, Charles Henry, Andrew J.,
George Wesley, William Wallace, Stephen Edgar, Peter, Ida May, Jane, and Lydia H.

8.)
George Wesley Demarest born Sept. 20, 1846 and died June 14, 1928 at Soldier's Home Cemetary, Grand Rapids Michigan.  He married Julia Ann Baird.  When she died he married Louisa DeMoyer.  Her second husband is burried at Soldier's Home Cemetary at Grand Rapids Michigan, Julia burried at Sherman Cemetary.  George Wesley Demarest served in Civil War Co. F. 9th Michigan Infantry.
Children were:
Lona Belle, Blanche Bowman, Merton Wesley, and
Rudd Warren.

9.) Rudd Warren Demarest born Dec. 9, 1890.  He married in Cadillac Michigan, Mattie Welch, born 1893 in Michigan.  Then they moved to St. Petersburg Florida where they died.
Children were:
Delores, Floyd H.,  Irene M., Fay E., Teddie Raymond, Alta, and
Rudd Warren Jr.

10.) Rudd Warren Demarest Jr.  born July 6, 1923.  He married November 3, 1942, my Grandmother, Audie Ruth Hoffpauir Martin b. September 12, 1925.  She resided at the time Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Children were:
Warren J., (my mother)
Connie Marie, Linda Lee, Rita Ann, and Terry Ray.
