7/07/05 Munster Bench Press Championships 2005
The Munster Bench press champioships were held in Limerick on 3 July. Some good lifting in the junior ranks with 2 irish records made, by Owen Cafferty at 82.5 with a lift of 171kgs  and Jason Quirke in the 110kg class with a lift of 185kgs. Some big lifts were also registered by Ian Dillon (Southill)with 207.5kgs and winning the best lifter award in the process, Shane Brodie (Southill) 175kg on a 4th attampt and novice Brian Bullman (Olympic Gold gym) with 160kg. 6/07/05 Irish Powerlifting Championships 2005
The Irish Powerlifting Championships took place at Waterford Weight Training Centre. This is a new premises in the Industrial estste which will have state of the art facilities when finished. The championships again this year was poorly attended with only 9 lifters. Irish records were however broken by Shane Brodie with a Squat of 293 Kgs. Bernard Delaney increased his Bench record to 220 Kgs in the 90 Kg division and totalled 820 Kgs to achieve the best lifter award of the championships. The standard of lifting was very high even with such a small attendace. The major championship on the irish calendar needs to have more participation, so if you are training please take part in this championships next year. The best way to imporve is by competing against the best. results
22/12/04 Irish Powerlifting Ranking list 2004:
Ger McNamara retains number one position in Powerlifting for 2004. With a total of  767.5Kgs at 69.3 Kg bodyweight gives him a Wilks rating of 579.6 ahead of Bernard Delaney of Dublin with 510.7 in the 90kg division. 21/12/04 Irish Bench Press Ranking list 2004:
Dave Fitzhenry is the top Bench Presser for 2004 based on the Wilks formula for men with 272.5Kg Irish Record at the recent Irish Championships, closely followed by Ger McNamara who is the best master with 190Kg at only 69Kg bodyweight. The standard continues to increase each year with Irish records broken in many categories. Sandra Burke the only female competitor ranking is based on the Wilks formula for women and ranks in 16th position overall. Congratulations to all. Full details on the Ranking list.

16/12/04 Irish Bench Press Championships 2004:
This years championships were hels in the CIE club Limerick and attarcted a big entry from all parts of the country. Many records were broken with the biggest bench press ever by an Irishman at an irish competition of 272.5Kgs by Dave Fitzhenry (125+ class) from Carlow.
Ger McNamara of Limerick continued his record breaking with a 190Kg press in the 75Kg class narrowly missing 200Kg on a fourth attempt at only 69Kg bodyweight. Ber Morgan and Jim Butler both from Limerick had wins in the 82.5Kg class (senior and master)with Bernard making a PB of 160Kg. Ger Tierney (Limerick)just missed out on a 200Kg, winning the 90Kg class. Cahal Tierney from Galway had a PB of 172.5Kg to come second to Pat McNamara of Limerick wining the 100Kg division with another PB of 197.5Kg. Pat Slattery won the Intermediate section at 110Kg class also getting a PB of 160Kg while John O'Neill of Derry won the senior category and achieved 215Kg  on a 4th attampt.
The battle of the big guys at 125+ was between Andrew Sheehan Ireland's Strongest man winner and Dave Fitzhenry. Andrew benched a PB of 245 Kg  but Dave opening with 250, finished with a massive 272.5Kg (600lbs) and a new Irish record.
Junior winners were Tadhg O'Regan (Galway), Dave Day (Galway),Mke Wallace(Limerick), Pat McGrath (Limerick), Owen Caffery (Tralee), Chris Coughlan (Limerick), John Hardgroves (Kilkenny), and Martin Fleming (Killarney)For full results click

Munster Powerlifitng Championships 2004:
The championships took place at Kilmurray Lodge hotel Limerick, organised by Tom Dillon and Shane Brody were a great success. With over 20 entries many Irish and Munster records were broken. Presentations were made to the family of Kieran Sheedy (RIP)in rememberance of his achievements in the sport of Powerlifting. Results

Munster Powerlifting Chmpionships 2004:
The date for the munster powerlifting championships is changed to Sunday 12th Sept. This championship is also takes place in rememberance of Kieran Sheedy (RIP). Competition start time 1.00pm.

Western European Cup 2004:
Shane Brody, Ireland's only representative at the WE Cup in Norway won the 82.5Kg division with a total of 710Kgs (275,170,265) beating Norway's Gier Bedin (702.5Kg).  Tom Dillon was the Irish Coach/Manager and referee at the championships.  Congratulations Shane.!. Details to follow.
