It says that a James McGinty was reappointed as the Mayor's clerk. He has held that position for 27 years. The article went on to say that Mr. McGinty was born in Glenties, Donegal County, on May 10 1838. His parents were Manus and Ann Tolan McGinty. It goes on to say that he emigrated to America on Sept 25, 1857 on the sailing vessel Australia, and arrived in New York on Nov 6 of that year. The story describes his life in Pennsylvania, including his marriage and his children. It even includes a picture of him. I don't have any connection to the Donegal McGintys, but if someone sees this on your site, I would be glad to give them more information included in the article Good luck Jim Murphy [email protected] |
