The youngest of four children, and the only boy, Liam was born to a working-class family in Ireland. He started boxing when he was nine years old and at first held ambitions to be a butcher, facinated by the sharp knives. At the age of eleven, cast in a school play, acting began facinating him and through highschool he was in several small dramas.
He met Ciara when he was thirteen, the first summer she visited her grandparents. For the next several years, she spent every summer in Ireland; more then once she spent a year there. He became quick friends with her and her brother, and always felt an older-brother kind of protectiveness for her, particularly because she was so hot-headed.
Although he was outgoing and sociable, Ciara was his closest friend. He earned the nickname of "Irish Wolf" from her because of his habit to have a new girlfriend every week. He and even dated Ciara for a short period of time, but she eventually called it off because according to her, "it wasn't working." She also gave him the nickname of Gilbert while they were both reading "Anne of Green Gables" together, and persisted in calling him Will even though he hated his name and preferred being called Liam.
After breaking up with Ciara, Liam continued to have feelings for her even though he returned to his habit of finding new girlfriends every weekend. Jealous of all Ciara's suitors, he became furious when Michael, a boyfriend, cheated on her. Liam beat the other man senseless and left him in an alley, exhibiting a volatile temper which was not easily provoked. That summer, Ciara's ill mother reached a peak in her illness and Liam went to America for the first time with Ciara to be with her.
When Amy Donnovan died a few months later, Liam stayed with Ciara and comforted her until she went to live with relatives in Colorado and finish her schooling. Liam returned to Ireland with her brother, Timothay, and began working at various jobs and trying even more varied colleges. He returned to the states six years later, after failing two different schools, and with new determination to start a career in acting.
America facinated Liam, ever since his first visit when Ciara's mother died. Although he had written Ciara constantly for several years after they had parted ways, he had lost touch with her and her family, not knowing she was in California when he accepted the role of Greg Wilson in the romantic comedy film "One Too Many," being filmed in Santa Monica. |
