Saint-Paul (photo below on the left) is full of charm and loved by artists. It is famous for its landscape, museum, the Foundation Maeght and the hotel Colombe d'Or. The Foundation has a large collection of modern art, paintings and sculptures and presents works by Picasso, Miro, Braque, Bonnard, Calder, Giacometti and Chagall. The museum is surrounded by a picturesque sculpture garden. The museum is called by certain guide books a Southern Louvre, regarding the significance of its collection. The Hotel Colombe d'Or also owns a wonderful art collection. Many famous artists (including Modigliani) stayed there at the beginning of the last century and paid the bills with their paintings. These works of art still decorate the walls of the restaurant of the Colombe d'Or, giving it a very special atmosphere.

Chateau de Gourdon For a panoramic view as far as Nice and the Esterel, you can take the scenic drive to Gourdon overlooking the Gorges du Loup at 700 meters altitude. Visit the Chateau, dated from 1610, which has a formal garden, an armoury and hosts the museum of Art Deco of great interest. From Gourdon you can take an exciting pedestrian walk down the cliffs along the "Chemin de Paradis"

Everybody goes to eat in Mougins, offering a big choice of gourmet restaurants. The Moulin de Mougins, is the most famous, but we prefer Le Feu Follet, with more modest prices and delicious food. Many celebrities have been visiting Mougins where for example Picasso spent his last years.

From the house the direction to le Pont- du -Loup will bring you to the spectacular Gorge du Loup with its waterfalls.

The best places for visiting famous Mediterranean gardens are Saint-Jean Cap Ferrat for the Villa and Gardens of Ephrussi Rothschild and Monaco for the Exotic Garden.

Summer time on the Cote d'Azur is the season for many cultural events. Some of them are traditional such as the Jazz festival in Juan-les-Pins and the concerts of classical music in the Palace of Prince Rainier of Monaco, both in July. La Salle des Etoiles in the Montecarlo Sporting Club offers top quality celebrity concerts in a fashionable atmosphere.
