| Spring grove, mo March 25, 1865 Dearest Robert I seat myself down this lonesome morning to drop you afew lines to let you know that iam well at this time isincerely hope when these few lines reaches your kind hands they may find you enjoying the same or greater blessing I havent received aletter from you since you went off and the time seems long icant tell the time that it seems to me that it has been oh you cant imagine how long and lonesome the days are but perhaps they seem long to you as well as myself but ihope they dont for iknow you would feel most miserably and iwould hate to hear of you feeling that way but iguess it makes no difference for myself oh if icould just get aletter right now from you ithink my drooping spirits would be revived to no little extent but iwill trust to providencefor ahappier day this is the third letter that ihave written to you since you went off and ihope iwill not have time to write any other one till iget one from you or see you oh you cant imagine how well it would please me to see you and spend awhile in your company ithink the time would pass more pleasant then what it does if it did not iwould be very sorry I cant of much to write times here is peacibly at the present and I trust they may still remain so for ther is nothing that is charminger to the eye than peace iwill soon have to close write when you think you will be at home Robert think of me once more and iam sure to never forget you iwill close by saying ihope to see you soon and if icant see you ihope to hear from you write if you please and let me know how you are getting along after wishing you peace and great sucess iwill end iremain yours as ever Margaret A Smith To Robert Morgan Remember well and bare in mind atrue friend is hard to find and when you find one that is true chang not an old one for anew Margaret Smith PS: be agood boy and Hurrah and learn to write |
